Lookin' pretty sweet there, Toshi.

Thank you BrandonK.  The only reason in that it’s; (Lookin’ pretty sweet there) is because you posted your build at my request on this thread.  I used yours and jeaton01’s Model Master P-47 as templates.  Thank you BrandonK for helping me.

Hello Mr. Toshi,

It has been awhile my friend. Your build is absolutely amazing...everything looks great. You have advanced so much since you strated...I am not surprised. Be well my friend, and enjoy the remainder of the build.

P.S. - I hope Mrs. Toshi is doing well and remains well during her treatments.

I got these decals done while my grandson took his afternoon nap.  Of course I have to stop.  I wonder why? He got up.  lol!

Here is what I did at 2:30am.  For some reason I woke up early and could not go back to sleep.  Everything That is not of NMF was hand painted.  I hope you enjoy my build.

This is coming out very nice. I like that thin stripe around the nose.

Thank you tempestjohnny.  I had painted the NMF with a rattle can.  Model Master Custom Lacquer System AMC Sterling Silver Metallic 3D #28141 from Hobby Lobby.  This was picked out by Mrs. Toshi.

The black thin stripe was hand painted.  Everything that’s not NMF has been hand painted on.  Sometimes I really enjoy brush painting as oppose to the AB technique.

Thank you tempestjohnny for stopping by on my WIP thread and checking out my build while replying.  I am most greatful of this as well as our conversations my friend!

1943Mike

Delighted that you're doing another NMF aircraft - so far I just don't have the courage to try one (but I'm working myself up to it Smile).

Looking at your progress I'm impressed. I like the really shiny metallic finish - especially with what looks like OD on the top of the fuselage in front of the pilot.

I sincerely hope that all goes well with Mrs. Toshi and that you both are going to be laughing with each other and loving each other for many, many moons to come.

I purchased the P-47 on a whim as I don’t have a kit of one.  I was going to do this in OD but Mrs. Toshi insisted on a Model Master rattle can color.  Of course I told yes, and this is the result of the rattle can.  You should try a old school spray can, it keeps things really simple.  Mrs Toshi picked out Model Master Custom Lacquer System AMC Sterling Silver Metallic 3D #28141 from Hobby Lobby.

I’m very pleased with the progression of this build.  The metallic finish really does stand out.  Yes, the anti glare paint is OD in front as well as behind the pilot.  I hand painted the anti glare.  That came out really nice in my humble opinion.

Since this very horrific and stressful ordeal, I’ve learned that I have a second chance in life with Mrs. Toshi.  We both cherish each day together as if it’s our last one.  I too hope and know that we will be laughing and loving each other for many many more years to come!

Thank you so very much 1943Mike, you’ve always followed my builds and I enjoy our conversations together.  You’ve been a great member and more importantly a fantastic friend!

Thank you jeaton01!  Thanks to you and your reiterating of certain issues of this build especially the photo link to your build really helped me a lot!  I greatly appreciate it.

Lol yes I happen to remember AMC. My father and I spent years building trophy winning AMC's and now have a Gremlin project in his driveway.

I knew that Sterling Silver would really add some show quality to your build. Are you sure you don't want to keep it?

It's a beautiful color. :)

AMC had several racing teams back in the day, was your father as well as yourself part of these teams?

I showed Mrs. Toshi your post, we’ve decided to keep it as such.  No changes will be made.  lol!  Thanks for the input!

Toshi and Mrs. Toshi

no we were never involved with any of the race teams. Although dad did get to take it around the track once. He didn't push it though. He didn't want to scratch it lol.

We have been to a lot of car shows over the years. ;)

These days I'm working on my Geo. It's starting to look pretty cool. :)

Yes, I remember you mentioning the Geo in a past WIP of mine.  How is that coming along?  I just did the rear brakes with the help of my son (He did the work as I can’t work on anything anymore car wise) on our 2008 Kia Sedona LX.  Next I’ll have my son work on the front brakes of the Sedona.  I should then be set for the winter!

Wow !   Every time I turn around you have another kit on you'r bench. I'v been starring at the same car kit for over two months...... and still dont have it all together yet.

That Silver is a sight to behold ! Nice job !

I too have a P-47 but it's an old Heller kit 1/72 scale and only has about 20 parts. It's not in the lineup yet. still working out a few "bug's" in my shop. ( No.... really..... BUGS!   Dont know how they got in there.)

Looking forward to seeing you'rs cross the finish line.

lol!  I used to finish kits in a couple of days.  And then keep going non-stop.  I’ve learned to pace myself and take the time out in detailing things.  I’ve only been building for a little over two and a half years.  Plus, I don’t have the room to display all of my finished builds anymore.  lol!

Yes it is!  At first I thought it had too much BLING in it.  But M.Brindos and ManCityFan pointed out that after you add the decals and such, it’ll tone everything down a bit.  Plus, Mrs. Toshi not only picked out the rattle can color out, we both took a step back and liked it very much.  We both laughed about it and i had a great time building the P-47 kit!

Even with only 20 parts or so, I’d love to see a WIP on it.  That would be great!  I hope you work out the bugs in your bench area.  They can be a annoyance at best.  Here in NE Ohio, we deal with nats all the time during this time of year.  Annoying they are.

I’m hoping to wrap this baby up by the middle of October.  Then I have my last stash of a original still wrapped up Monogram Black Widow I found on eBay at a really nice price point!  My favorite thing about this kit is that I have every AM part.  Thank littletimmy for always following and supporting my WIP!

Here is a little bit of progress for today.  I’ve haven‘t been working on the Thunderbolt as much as I wanted to.  Taking, being, and supporting Mrs. Toshi through her Photon Radiation therapy is very important to me.

We’ve also have been watching our grandson Ezra whom is now one years old, is a job in itself.  lol!  He’s walking like a drunken baby and keeps me on my toes.  One area that is off limits to him is the den of which I have my bench in.  Other than that, he has free roam of the condo.

I want to also thank Gamera for his very generous offer of sending me a sheet of AM decals for my P-47.  This was just in case my decals started to break up or crack in the water.

That‘s the greatness of this Forum in of which Forum members like Gamera would actually send me an item if I needed it.  Once again, thanks Gamera!

Thank you for the tip on the decal binder spray.  It worked like a charm.  Thank you so very much forum member fox!  Here is a test photo of the wing insignia.  As you can see, it held together and did not break up.

Hey Toshi, I like that color too!  Nice and shiny.  Mr. Brindos is correct that the color looks good.  After decals and some weathering, this will look GREAT!  Glad you are having fun with this, and gave Mrs. Toshi a laugh.  Send her my warmest regards.

Thank you, I’m glad that you like it.  It is very very nice and shiny!  lol!  M. Brindos is correct in his comment.  He usually knows his arts.

As for decals some other coloring and maybe a little weathering as I’m still undecided on the latter, it should look good.  I don’t know about great.  lol!  We will have to see.  lol!

Mrs. Toshi and I cherish each day we have together since her ordeal.  We try to have fun every minute of the day.  Thank you for your caring words.  I greatly appreciate it my friend.

Here is the Thunderbolt with the Model Master Custom Lacquer System AMC Sterling Silver Metallic 3D No. 28141.  My experiment is done.  Although it looks really pretty, I’ll definately have to respray this in Vallejo Acrylic Metal Color 77.707.  lol!  At least Mrs. Toshi was greatly amused and we both had a good laugh at it.  Mrs. Toshi said; “It definately gots lots of BLING“.

This is what life is about, I told myself in that when Mrs. Toshi recovers from her ordeal, I’ll cherish every moment with her and include her in my builds.  In this build it cost me approximately $3.00 with my Hobby Lobby discount card.  And it created a time in which I’ll never forget that we shared a jovial essence.

This my fellow forum members is what you’ve taught me here on this forum, to have fun in really and truly having one heck of a time in my WIP building escapade.  Thank you FSM Forum Members for humoring me for this short period of time.
