Sterling Silver Metallic is a color I have used on a car. It's a beautiful color, but it's more of a metal flake.

No doubt it will make the model a show piece. :)

Toshi, my friend, I always follow your builds. You're one of my favorite builders. ;)

I had no idea that it was a car color until you mentioned it.  Then again, the side of the rattle can does say AMC.  Remember that car company?  lol!

I’ll test that color on some scrap plastic first.  If it looks too funky, I still have the Vallejo Acrylic Metal Color 77.707 Chrome to spray with.  I also have Model Master Enamel 1790 Chrome Silver.  I used that on my Academy 1/48 P-38 Lightning.  That came out really nice as well.

So my options/backup plans are satisfactory for me.  I do want to really make the Model Master Custom Lacquer System AMC Sterling Silver Metallic 3D work as it was chosen by Mrs. Toshi and I don‘t want to disappoint.

I hope it looks decent.  You and the other forum members are the artists that make kits look like show pieces.  You following me as a fellow peer that is one of your favorite builders humble me.  Those are such kind words, thank you my friend!

I have used the Vallejo Acrylic Metal Color 77.707 Chrome on my Trumpeter 1/32 P-38 Lightning and was really impressed with the product.  It’s AB ready to go so that’s really nice.

As for what I’ll be utilizing on this project for paint?  It will be from a rattle can as I want to experiment with this color.  It’s Model Master “Custom Lacquer System” AMC Sterling Mettalic 3D No. 28141 Sterling Silver Metallic.  Mrs. Toshi picked this out for this build.

Thank you for the inquiring.  I hope you continue to follow this build.

I like it thus far, Toshi. Looks like it's coming together well.

I've also got this kit in the stash. I picked up some Vallejo Chrome to do some of my NMF builds but I haven't tried it out yet.

What do you plan on using for the finish?

Well Toshi, you asked for the completed shot of my attempt at this kit. I just wrapped it up. I hope you enjoy it. And I would never post up on your thread if you didn't ask me to.

BK

You did not attempt to complete this build, you far exceeded your attempt.  That looks fantastic!  It should be on the box cover art!

I very much do enjoy your completed kit, now I have a example of this build.  You can always post anything on my WIP threads, it’s my way of learning.  That’s what these Forums are for, to share our projects with one another!  Thank you so very much for taking the time out to post your project, I so very much appreciate it.

Yes, I guess every manufacture has a quirky way of doing things. Oh well, we modelers just improvise and move forward. Toshi

Ya, the landing gears are built before the wing halves are closed and you are forced to have them installed early on. No way around this. I was able to spray, like Gamera did, the bays then put silly putty in and Alclad the gear and plane in one shot. It worked great and although I don't like to install my gear so early, it works just fine on this kit.

BK

I had a similar issue with Testors 1/48-scale F-104. I had to install the nose gear before closing the fuselage. I left the gear unglued so it is free to move out of the way for the time being. Later, I will glue.

Here is where I’m at for now.  No issues at this point.  Just some minor sanding and maybe a little putty.

Konichiwa, Toshi!! Man, you're building kits at an extraordinary rate, my friend! And I love how your skills have progressed over the past few years. Hope you have a great time with that ProModeler kit. I've built a few of them, and they're pretty good kits. And you can never have too many P-47s around the airfield........

Konichiwa Devil Dawg!  Thank you for such kind words, I’m most humbled.  So far, I’m having one big party in Just the initial building stages with this Pro Modeler kit.  And I agree, the more P-47’s, the better!  lol!

Here is where everyone with whom built this kit of which are a lot of Forum members pointed out an engineering issue.  This just makes things a little more time consuming than most other kits done differently.

Although not a huge problem at all, it is very interesting at best in how to build and paint around this.  Thanks to all you members that had their input in the wheel well problem!  And a thanks to you all for following my build.

Model Maniac

Hi Toshi,

I'm glad to see you started working on another model. You are lucky to get the P-47N 1:48 for just $10. I also got a P-47D 1:48 by Otaki as one of 180 kits from my friend for $118, or less than $1 per kit. He bought it 33 years ago, I don't know whether the decals still work or not. I also got 16 more 1:48 WWII warplanes from this second kit haul plus nearly 100 1:72 warplanes.

Looking forward to seeing your P-47N in finished mode. Keep building!

At a dollar per kit, you got the best deal!  Congratulations on such a haul of such a stash.  I will Definately keep building to complete my P-47N when I can.  Thank you sir for your interest in my build.

I ordered a Eduard Big Ed Set and in it were these 1/48 WWII Seatbelts.  Luckily, I saved them and am able to utilize the seatbelts for this kit.

What's neat about the instruction booklet is that it utilizes actual real photos of the section that you're working on of a P-47 Thunderbolt.  Not something you see everyday.

Here is the fueselage assembly.  What's different about this set up is that usually, you assemble the cockpit then glue it into the fueselage.  In this instructions, you glue together the fueselage then you assemble the cockpit and slide it in.  That's a very different concept.  Let's see how this works out.
