I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE! Surprise I've looked at this bold beautiful red Airfix box long enough!  Its tantalizing box art has drawn me in with it's promise of soft grey plastic goodness! Big Smile Ok, enough drama.  The kit is beautifully molded but the panel lines are a bit exaggerated.  I won’t be using the supplied crew but I love how Airfix faithfully includes them in every kit! I'll be making the strikingly handsome torpedo wielding bird from 6./KG 26.  Thank you for looking! Beer

Howdy friends! Here is a quick update on the 111. All of the internal bits have been painted and weathered. Nothing special here, a lot of it will not be seen so I’m not putting a ton of effort into it.  The fuselage is ready to be sealed up.

One of my favorite subjects. I’m love Airfix’s box art too. I’ll be following.

So was it on the shelf at your LHS or in your stash when it grabbed you?  Lol

Thanks guys! Beer

John - It started out at the hobby shop, then sat in my stash for a few weeks.  A few weeks too long!

They have a way of doing that.  It's like if I go out in my shop where my stash is it's kinda like that scene in Indiana Jones where the girls is surrounded by mummy's!  instead it model's and I have to pick one!!! Surprise

Have you ever had one of those kits that you become quite tired of and you just want to be done as quickly as possible? This is one of those kits. The interior went together well enough but the exterior has succumbed to a few fit problems. Particularly the seam along fuselage, the wing roots, and the engine covers.  I’m careful to test fit parts prior to gluing them but I still ran into problems.  As with most Airfix kits I’ve built, some parts were quite thick and the plastic is soft which created some irregular joints. But, the show must go on. Bang Head

Yes indeed, but nothing a little putty and sandpaper couldn't fix.. Almost time to mask that dreaded glazing. Looking great!

Hello friends. Just a quick update.  This one has been a pain in the butt but I can finally see the finish line. Finally got the base coats and decals down. Time for little Mediterranean weathering and I’ll call this one done.

Hello friends.  I'm calling this one done!  So, after looking through the pics, I discovered that I neglected to re-scribe the leading edge panel lines on the wings! Bang Head But I’m happy overall.

nicely done and if you only forgot to do one thing at the end of the build, well you're farther ahead then me in that regard.

Your Heinkel looks really good.  Whatever fit issues you encountered appear to have been solved wonderfully.

For the difficulties you point out, it ended up to be a fine representation of an old working warbird. Thanks for the post and photos.

I agree with the other comments.  Sounds like this build was not the most enjoyable for you, but you would never know with the end result.  Your painting, panel line accents, and canopy masking are all top notch.  Congrats on finishing, and very well done!!

Thanks for sharing!
