COMPLETED Trumpeter 1/32 TBF -1C Avenger Torpedo Bomber build with Ezra my grandson
Posted by Tosh on Friday, March 22, 2019 12:27 AM

To my fellow Forum members,

WOW!!!  I had to unfortunately shut down the B-25J Mitchell build.  Missing parts in a major way.  No propellers and no middle/rear bulkheads.  Plus I had no engines.  What else was missing, I swear I had no idea what hellish items would be missing and or doubled.  Lol.  And at this point, I didn’t want know.  I’ll start my next project which will be a Trumpeter 1/32 three man torpedo bomber.

I built this kit either last year or the year before and had such a great time doing so.  I’ll have photos to follow as always!

Knowing your skills, you'll do justice to the"turkey".

If you need, I have pics of the Avenger in the Erickson collection.  But none of the office

Thank you for the confidence in both Ezra and myself in building the “Turkey”.  Pictures of an Avenger from the Erickson collection would be most appreciated in anyway!  Thank you so very much goldhammer!

Toshi, I've always been a fan of the big Avenger and look forward to watching this and hearing your play-by-play. When my two boys were playing indoor soccer, their team was called the Avengers. Their volunteer coach was a full time police officer in the next county. We built him a 1/72 TBF at the end of the season and his reaction was pure shock and appreciation.

Wow Toshi!!! you built this kit once already and are willing to tackle it a second time?! Your a Real man! ;>). I have this kit also and I really want to build it. Im not the fastest builder in the world (took me 4 months to build a 1/48 Eduard 109). I think this kit would take me up to a year to build. Your friend learmech

Or real stupid!  Lol! And that’s the key, to enjoy and build your kit at the speed that allows you to create the best quality finished product in the end!  And your builds are fantastic!

I have the 1/48 Accurate Minitures kit with George Bush's markings in my stash.  It's supposed to be a fine kit.  One of these days.........

I used the Tamiya Weatherine kit on the engine then brushed some Vallejo black on it to give it a dirty oily look to it.
