Very nicely done! I've not tried the hairspay either but have had success with the salt method. The weathering you've achieved is very convincing, a proper worn PTO look for sure!

That looks great Tubosteve.
Below is my Japanese Shinden (?) that I was brave enough to try with heavy weathering
That looks great!!!

Update: As per suggestions, prop has been weathered. Calling this done now and it's going on the shelf Thanks to all for the kind comments and suggestions.

Gamera As far as I know the props were metal. The Japanese painted them reddish-brown for some reason- I don't think I've ever heard it stated.

Overall nice build man. I'm with Bret on the prop but that's just me. I'm also with Jeaton on the fact that I've never tried weathering to the degree that you have so with that I've gotta say that you've put some good effort forth in learning. Looking forward to more from you.

ReasonedNice looking build Steve, always loved the Zero. May want to give the prop and spinner a little "unlove" just to complete the weathering...but what do I know :)
As the prop is brown, I assumed it was wood ?!?! Any suggestions how best to represent wear on wood?
Yeah the chipping is a little even an regular but that's my only nit-picking. Overall it's a beautiful job, you should be proud of her!!!

Very nice job, looks properly thrashed, you're more gutsy than me, I've never tried weathering or the usual "combat wear." Perhaps just a bit less and some randomly placed chipping would be more representative. Good modeling effort, thanks for the post and photos.

jeaton01 Nice Steve. The wear is a little uniform, but you've bravely gone where I haven't dared.

Thanks John, first time I've tried this so. maybe in hindsight I should have tried for a more 'patchy' look. But overall, pretty happy for a first attempt.

So, it's been quite a while since I posted anything..........life and stuff gets in the way. But got some bench time in my shed over the past few weeks and managed to knock this out.
No major issues with this, typical Tamiya fit, very little filler needed.
Tried for a 'beaten' look as I have seen many others portrayed in this fashion............not sure how successful I have been, but looks "OK" to my eyes. Tried with a small piece of sponge, not brave enough to try the hairspray way (never tried it and was happy with my build and didn't want to mess it up with a poor attempt with hairspray as never tried before).
Comments / critique / suggestions warmly welcomed as they will only help me to progress in this hobby.
