Took quite some time, but I finally got her done. All kit plastic except for a piece of glass in the gunsight and new guns.

Beautiful finish! Where did you source those particular decals?
This kit is one of my favorites, along with the razorback version. It's always nice to see someone build another example of it.

Wow what a nice, clean build!
Thanks for posting, it's always nice to see the potential of these older kits brought to life.

Turned out nice. I think I've only ever seen NMF bubble tops. Cool markings.
Thanks,

I have a great fondness for the old Monogram Thunderbolt kits. Pretty much the acme of their quality during that era.
Yours is a peach!

LOL ! Thanks John!
Thank you gregbale. Yes, I agree. I began modeling in the 80's and K-Mart was chocked full of Monogram kits. I thought they were the best. So many great subjects.

Really? Nah, there were lots of field cammo'd bubble tops--the 78th FG and 56th were probably the most noteable offenders, but many 9th & 15 AF examples existed as well.
keavdog I think I've only ever seen NMF bubble tops.
Thanks Shipwrek!
ShipwreckREALLY NICE JUG!
Thank you Baron. Decals are Aeromaster 48-348. UMM says they have the sheet in-stock; however, I have my suspicions :-Dhttp://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=133&products_id=9622

Oh that's just beautiful!!! Pretty model of my favorite plane!
As to camoed P-47D 'bubbletops' I think all of Zemke's Wolfpack carried some sort of camo.

Thanks gamera! The 56th FG certainly had a large number of painted P-47's;however, there were numerous examples on paintless P-47's (even some Razorbacks)
lawdog114Wow! can't believe that's the old Monogram kit. Outstanding work.
Thanks Lawdog!
