Thanks gamera!  The 56th FG certainly had a large number of painted P-47's;however, there were numerous examples on paintless P-47's (even some Razorbacks)

As to camoed P-47D 'bubbletops' I think all of Zemke's Wolfpack carried some sort of camo.

Thank you Baron.  Decals are Aeromaster 48-348. UMM says they have the sheet in-stock; however, I have my suspicions :-D

Beautiful finish!  Where did you source those particular decals?

This kit is one of my favorites, along with the razorback version.  It's always nice to see someone build another example of it.

Really? Nah, there were lots of field cammo'd bubble tops--the 78th FG and 56th were probably the most noteable offenders, but many 9th & 15 AF examples existed as well.

I think I've only ever seen NMF bubble tops.

Thank you gregbale.  Yes, I agree. I began modeling in the 80's and K-Mart was chocked full of Monogram kits.  I thought they were the best.  So many great subjects.

I have a great fondness for the old Monogram Thunderbolt kits. Pretty much the acme of their quality during that era. Yours is a peach!

Took quite some time, but I finally got her done.  All kit plastic except for a piece of glass in the gunsight and new guns.

Turned out nice.  I think I've only ever seen NMF bubble tops.  Cool markings.

Thanks,
