Nice Zeek.

You got the exterior color right which most people get wrong. Nice use of avaliable recources. The more you do this the more you'll find uses for ordanary things like toothpicks, sewing needles, tooth brushes, thread and even some plants in the yard. Go look through beauty supply stores for nail files, brushes ETC.

Great looking build. As others have said you have skills now that I couldn't dream of as a teen. Keep it up and show us more as you build them

What I'm impressed with is your resourcefulness with your limited supplies. That is an amazing job.

You, young sir, have talent.

Thank's a lot! My dad always told me "Use what you have in your house!"

Back to the bench

Well done and thanks for sharing your build. With a start like that you will be teaching us in no time at all!

Have you had a chance to decide whether you prefer a particular category of models (aircraft, armor, scifi etc.)? With your obvious skills I would encourage you to try them all and see what you like.

Looking forward to seeing your next model. Thanks again for sharing your work and most of all build what you want and HAVE FUN!

To be honest, I like aircraft more. I have like very little knowledge about tanks or ships, but I prefer aircraft more than the land and sea vehicles.

I agree with this and all the other comments. You did a fine job. Yes

Like Stikpusher said above, I hope you keep building too. It's nice to see work of this caliber coming from a young person of your age, and you will only get better if you keep at it.

Yeah, paint looks good and smooth, don't see any seam lines, no silvering in the decals. Looks like some really nice work to me. Heart

Took me years to get as good as you.

Nice job.  Stick with it and be patient.  I would say your already building above the typical teen modeler.  Very exciting builds coming from you in the future.  Again, very nice.

Nice job!  Seemwork looks good - something I didn't really address until I was in my late teens :)  Nice finish as well.  Congratulations on a nice buid.

Thanks,

That looks great and you did a fine job on the kit. You have every right to be proud of this build. This is better than any kit that I remember building as a teeneger. You're on course to being a very skilled adult modeler if you stick with the hobby. As far as paints go, the more kits you build, the more paints that you will need and accumulate as time goes on.

I want to show you my Zero
Posted by Teenage Modeler on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 10:33 AM

So, if you don't know me, I am still new into this hobby and am a teenager (although I told you many times). I wanted to show you my first "good" model I made.

I made it back during the summer of 2019, and it took me 1-2 weeks. If you don't know, this is the one in my profile picture.

It was a Tamiya 1/48 A6M3 Zero fighter. I used a variety of paints (Tamiya, model masters, Aztek) to make it. I didn't really buy too many paints, I just used enough to suffice. I spray painted it with an airbrush outside (since I didn't have a spraying booth yet) on a table. I was very pleased with the finishing results of my model, since it was a first.

This is what my model looks like completed.

I did a little detailing with the Nakajima Sakae 21 engine (I did a little research), using thin wire, and some dry brushing.

For the Decals, I didn't have a decal setting solution, So I mixed Elmer's glue with some water (I think 3 parts water 1 part glue). It held well. I don't have an image for it.

I also added some rigging to the aircraft. I used regular thread for the line.

The cockpit was straight out of the box, and I used the decals provided. I painted the inside with a metallic blue, enamel.

All in all, I think I made a good scale model for the first time. I also masked the canopy by hand, and it turned out pretty well. Safe to say, my model looks good in my opinion, and I plan to do an F4U Corsair this summer (after building my corvette).
