Tamiya Spitfore Mk I 1/48
Posted by Justinryan215 on Thursday, July 1, 2021 6:28 AM

I built this kit as a part of the Plastic Posse Podcast group build.  I had fun, and made some mistakes, learned some new techniques (mainly in the paintwork...)but this was a nice fitting kit that built up fairly quickly! The pilot is from the ICM Spitfire kit.

Enjoy!

Can't go wrong with a Tamiya, good work on the camo, and the pilot is a nice touch.

Too many looks, needs more comments Sad

Right he is!! The paint and weathering on this one is second to none. Very well put together.

A very fine job, all around, especially the paint!  Top notch work there.

I see you have the same problem I do, when making a wire antenna.  It's difficult to get the sag out, and make it look taut.  I found a solution to that, it's a product called "E-Z Line".  It is very stretchy, but only takes a very light tension to stretch it out tight.  It is made generally for simulating power and telephone lines in model railroad layouts, and you can find it in places that feature model railroading.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Very nice build, the base and figure make it work well. Just a tip for your next build, the wear and paint chipping on the prop will normally be on the leading edge and the back face of the blades where stones will hit it, not really on the front face of the blades.
