Bought one for my stash because I just had to have it.  I finally took it off the shelf and busted the box open, doing my research now, and slowly assembling the engine this thing is almost snap together so far. What a great kit

Having opened the box and started , upon inspection the only shortcoming in this kit that I see is that it comes with the typical, too thick and brittle Tamiya decal sheets.  No biggie--kinda knew that going in Just need too find a set of aftermarket decals. Perhaps the old crow set so I can paint my bird green instead of silver.

Definitely one of the nicest kits I have ever built.  No problems with any fits.  I built the "Blondie" version OOB, but I gave it a red tail in honor of the Tuskeege Airmen.

I had no trouble with those decals at all.

Be careful with engine panels if you intend to display them closed.  They're a tad tricky and the fit could be better.  Otherwise, indeed, heaven in styrene.  Try using Tamiya's decal solution on their decals.  It's supposed to work well on them.

For some reason all my airplanes are displayed coming in for a landing, gear down, flaps down. I have a couple of planes displayed on the ground. but they are usaully flying on the roof above me

A few years ago I got to meet Robin Roberts(you know the good morning america host) at an airshow, her father was one of the original tuskeege airman and a true american hero

Awesome how excited you are about that kit.  I'm sure it's going to be a very enjoyable experience.  I'm almost ready to dive into thier 1/32 Corsair.  Instead of the kit decals I'm going with painting on the insignia and numbers with Montex mask.

It is a beautiful kit, right up there with their Corsair. I went with Decal Draw's Moonbeam McShine. No particular reason other than it was a blue nose

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Steve

The blue is sharp.  I would probably make the same decision.
