Excellent build!  Definitely has the "WOW" factor.  Your weathering, wing roots chipping and the oily/dirty bottom, look so realistic.  Base is nicely done and adds to your presentation without distracting from the plane.  Look forward to seeing more of your work on this site.

TJS

Thanks Tom.  I can't take credit for the base.  I have a guy......lol

Another great kit. Looking at your work really makes me want to get my hobby room completed. I've haven't touched a kit since December and the new home we bought in April only had the unfinished basement, so instead of building kits, I'm building my dream modeling room. Keep them coming, Joe, I need the movtivation.

BK

Thanks Brandon.  That explains where you been.  Glad your still lurking and doing well.

Stunning as usual, LD!  Weathering and fading perfect. I'll have to try that Tamiya Emil at some point.

Thanks Hoss.  You wont be disappointed.

Simply beautiful.

If I can ever finish my current build, a Star Destroyer with lighting, I hope to do two of these Tamiya Emils by the end of the year.

Thank you.  Good choice.  I actually prefer the Tamiya kit over the others.

You have impressive airbrushing skills my friend! Nicely done. I heard the new Wingsy Bf-109E is the best yet in scale, but Tamiya one certainly goes together nicely!

Thank you Andrew

My single favorite of all the many interesting JG54 schemes, and your rendering is stunning. Superb work, as always!

Thanks Greg

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

1/48 Tamiya Bf109 E-4B Jabo JG 54 “Steindel” (FINISHED)
Posted by lawdog114 on Thursday, August 26, 2021 1:02 AM

Hello, I thought I'd share my recently completed Emil E-4B Jabo (bomber) version in JG 54 markings.  It was flown by Paul Steindel on the Russian front in 1941.  I put this one off as long as I could due to the intimidation factor of the fuselage camo..............ouch!  I bit the bullet and got it done.

I used the Tamiya kit which, in my opinion, holds it's own against the newer tooled Eduard kit.  Actually, if I took the time to rivet it (I didn't), it would be just as good if not better. It's certainly less finicky and the leading wing slats are the correct size.  I added PE in the pit, but otherwise it's out of the box.

I used MRP paints for this project. These go on beautifully and I completely forget why I stopped using them in the first place.  They made the fuselage camo pattern much easier.  I only have their RLM colors though.  Perhaps I need more.  I added some XF-57 Buff to fade the paint a bit.  I had no compatibility issues.  I have been experimenting with the hairspray technique and the observed chipping effect is a result of it.  So far I like it better than AK's chipping fluid as it doesn't seem to puddle and bead up over NMF like AK does. Main markings were painted on with spare Montex masks.  Decals are by Hussar and worked beautifully. The ETC rack and SC 250 bomb came from Hasegawa's Luftwaffe Equiptment set.
