This one is finally done. I originally started this probably 10 years ago or so, then sidelined it due to a couple of moves and not being happy with my original start results. I pulled it back out a couple of months back and decided not to get all wrapped up in the kit’s errors. It’s a Chinese company’s modified clone of the Academy Mig-21 kit. There are plenty of goofs in the basic kit, so if you come across one yourself, keep on looking for something else. I used some SuperScale decals for the Iraqi markings and swiped a pair of Matra Magic missiles from another kit in my stash. It’s not my best work, but I’m happy to get it off the shelf of doom and onto display.
A little distance sure helps when viewing this one…
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Thank you Brandon. It is a sharp looking aircraft. I'd highly suggest that if you're looking for a 1/48 F-7 kit to add to your collection, get the Trumpeter kit instead of this one. Not that it is hard kit to build, but they got a lot of the details and shapes wrong.
I think it looks great. I love the color scheme.
Thank you Knox. It's nice to move one from the long term sidelines to completed.
Really nice! Great photography too. What camera did you use?

That's a nice clean build! The camo extending under the fuselage would give me a headache. How did you mask the camo?
Wow, nice looking build Stick

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Many thanks for the kind words guys!
Don, the camera is my iPhone 12. It does nice close up work. They keep updating the editing software so I'm getting more out of it. That and having a friend advise me on how to improve my usage and photos. The light box that I received as a birthday/Father's Day gift last year helps out big time too!
UP, I painted the underside light blue first, then masked it off along the fuselage and wings & stabilators. And of course the canopy. All of the topside colors were then done freehand. Photos show a hard straight demarcation line between the topside colors and bottom, but soft edge for all topside colors.
nicely ddone, great camo. What kit is that?

Hi, Stik - Very nicely done model, that was a new one for me, never knew about that version of the '21. Was that finish done with your Badger 105, (either the gravity feed or siphon?) If so, it sure looks like you mastered using it.
Thanks for the post and photos.
Patrick
Thank you for the compliments guys.
Waikong, the kit is made by a Chinese company, AA.
Patrick, this kit was indeed painted with the gravity feed Badger 105 that you sent awhile back. Thank you again for the generous gift! I have used that brush on all of the builds that I've done this year, and several from last year. It's now my go to airbrush. I can't say that I've truly mastered it yet, but I'm pretty happy with what I can do with it. I'm still trying to get the optimum pressure settings and paint thinning ratios figured out for various work.
Absolutely outstanding. Thank you for sharing you work.

Coming from a modeler of your caliber, that is high praise indeed! Thank you!
