I would love one too! All my other models are 1/48
Awood23Im pretty sure the largest B-52 your gonna find is going to be 1/72 1/48 would be rediculously huge.

According to http://www.sangereng.fsnet.co.uk/boeing_52.htm after another 6 years.... the B52 is #......
nearly ready....
cb1 way back in high school, my friends brother built one. he hand painted it with the old testors square bottles. It took something like 5 bottles of flat black to brush paint the underside. the thing was massive. LOL

I have seen that Sanger 1/48th BUFF on ebay a time or two several years ago. If I remember correctly, it sold for around $300 US. That thing would take up half of a room once completed and you would need a HUGE work bench to build it.

The B-52 and me, we have grown old, gray and overweight together.
A 1/48-scale B-52 would be impracticably enormous for the vast majority of us. Where would you put the darn thing? Even a 1/72-scale one has a wingspan bigger than my twin bed.
Wasn't there a 1/48-scale B-52 pictured in FSM a long time ago that somebody scratchbuilt?
"Whaddya mean 'Who's flying the plane?!' Nobody's flying the plane!"
I built the 1/72 B-52D when I was a teenager. It was a monster, a 1/48 scale kit would be huge. You'll need a table to display it.
Chasing the ultimate build.
I'm with you. Would be so cool to have a 1:48. All my models are, so need to keep them all the same scale.
wonder what 95 Pounds Sterling comes out to in US dollars for that 48th scale monster......................bet that kits a sight to see once its built
Yeh, but not much larger than the 1/48 B58 Hustler Kit, or the B36 Peacemaker. And the large scale AMT XB-70 is like 31" in length (I am dying to get to that one on my stack. :)
MikeVThat would be a kit that is 39.75" long with a wing span of 46.25" [:0] That is HUGE! Mike
In the Hangar: 1/48 Hobby Boss F/A-18D RAAF Hornet,
On the Tarmac: F4U-1D RNZAF Corsair 1/48 Scale.
i've got a feeling that id models did one a long time ago; beware that their kits are very basic- you would have to provide all interior parts and scrathbuild an undercarriage as well- and thats assuming you can find one in the first place. combat models don't do it, and i don't think the sanger one has progressed to the retail stage yet. good luck!
THAT 1/48 BUFF is definately in the pipeline, check this out.....

Hun Hunter Just noticed this was an old thread so my advice seems quite pointless. That Revell kit is a monster though, my buddy built one.

I am working on one now. It is quite a beast. Not easy to handle. I will be keeping an eye on that model company to see if and when they release the 1/48 BUFF.

This vid's been around for awhile, but it is unique...
There's a pic of a scratchbuilt BUFF in, get this, 1/35th scale... Can't remember where I saw it, but if I run across it again, I'll post it...
There are some that call me... Nash
Revell's 1/48 Lancer is 36" long and I bet the wingspan, with wings out, is 40 or so inches. It is huge but at least some one pressed one in 1/48, I really need to grab one but I have no where to display it built and stashing it isn't any better.
If you want to demonstrate scale that might actually be a good kit to use if you can't find a 1/48 B-52. Reasonably priced too.
I seem to recall seeing a vacuform 1/48 BUFF on ebay a time or two. They are extremely rare and bank busting expensive. The one that I saw was just the basic pieces, wing, fuselage, tail, engines. The modeler had to scratch build all the details.
Darwin, O.F.
The wingspan of a B-52 is 185 feet. it took me at least 145 steps to walk around one
An old thread but if this comes out thats like only $140AUD, (plus postage) for a plane that size, gonna keep an eye on this.
Andrew
A website by the name of SANGER shows a 2010 release of a 1/48 B52 that can be built in any config.
