Steven, are you going with the kit tracks which are decent or going with AM indies? How about zimmert?

Eric:  Small detail, I prefer to go by Steve...my wife and my mom are the only ones that call me Stephen...for some reason it feels strange coming from a dude.

Not sure on the tracks.  wbill76 swares by MK's so I may give those a try...depending on $$$.   I didn't study the kit photos when I ordered it and my package hasn't arrived...are the tracks indies?  I'm leaning towards no zim' on this bad-boy, but still unconfirmed.  I have a Tiger I-mid in the stash (which may be a second entry) which I planned to go with the zim' so I may leave it off on the late.  My main focus is to find a cool paint scheme.  I found this on the net yesterday, I like the one in the middle on the right...still hoping to find a great winter scheme!

My apologies. I called you Steven in your finished Tiger too. Embarrassed

No, this kit comes with rubberband tracks, but they are pretty decent. MK's will probably run you around $40, unless you can score them on another site or ebay. I personally wouldn't pay for them, but that's me.

In order for the kit to be accurate, all Late Tiger I's had zimmerit. I had to cough up for a set of Cavalier which was around $20 at Spruebrothers.

Super Angry...$40!?  No way I can justify paying that for tracks ONLY, when that amount will get me another kit!  I'll watch ebay thoughYes

ALL LATES had Zim'....arrrrghSuper Angry...Never worked with Cav's...have you?...thoughts?  I think putty or some of the other "not so perfect" methods would look better, IMO.

Yes, by all means do-it-yourself.

I have worked with Cavalier and it's easy apply. Atak makes a superior resin product IMO, but they run about $10 more. It's very hard to get a Tiger zimmerit off of ebay too. Believe me, I've tried.

The MK tracks is a guess. Troll Missing-lynx or Hyperscale. sometimes people are selling these things.

Thanks for those comments everyone.  I've imposed a cease and desist order upon myself, so no worries of any further badges being pumped out from me.

As for Bianca, you can always put her as desktop wallpaper.  Wonder if at any point the forum moderators had their hand hovering over the red stop bottom - lol.

Jack

Eric, just noticed your pm about the badge, so here it is re-sized and sharpened up, ready for posting on the first page:

SMJ - Cavalier zim is awesome to work with. Fit has been flawless in all of the examples I've tried. Let me poke around a bit and see if I can find you a set somewhere for cheap. Also poking around in my aftermarket decals for any late tiger winter schemes for you.

That badge - AWESOME! Surprise

SMJ - have yet to poke though all of my kit decals (I think I have every Tamiya and DML Late Tiger boxing?), but I did find you a whitewashed Tiger Late from Bison Decals. Look up set #35126, "To The Last Bullet #3". It's a mixed set of vehicles including what you're after in a ragged, rapidly fading scheme.

I suppose you could try this link as well:

http://www.bison-decals.com/35126.html

Now as far as your zim and tracks issue, the best I'm finding for the Cav set is about $17, and ModelKastens about $30. IMHO, worth it for the Cav set, not for the MKs. For that much you can find Friuls which are way more badass.

I'll keep digging.

 RBaer:

I'm done with the IDF GB and have a Tamiya KT "Ardennes" and a set of Friuls, just waiting to go.....

I just need to do enough research to find a good photo of a subject to model, and make sure the Friuls I have are appropriate for the KT I have.

Which Fruils do you have.

Gotta look, but I think they're the kind with all the same type one-piece links, not the kind with every other link w/o teeth or the really early multi-part alternate links. Make sense?

I'd like to do a very late-war example, dirty and beat-up.

Here we go, pic in the upper right:

Steve... Which vehicle are you planning on?

Not sure what you mean BishTongue Tied...I'm going to build two tanks for this GB, the Tamiya Tiger Mid and an AFV  Tiger E Late.  If you mean what version of the mid, I'll be pulling it out of the stash tonight and see what schemes/decals are included.

Awesome Steve. I would have a very tough decision deciding on which badge.

I always liked the Mid-Tiger I the best with the newer cupola and rubber-tires. I hate painting rubber-tires though. Angry

Are they the "latest" or did the alternate link type that needed a 9-tooth sprocket come later?

Just curious, plus I have a few parts in the stash, and I may want to make this one look pieced-together.

Actually i was wrong. I just looked at my kit. The set i used was the two piece link, i must have used set number 16. I just checked my referance and the set you have was not introduced until March 45. This was introduced with the 18 tooth sprocket. So you need the otehr set of fruils. Sorry for the error.

Well, I guess it's official, FedEx paid me a visit and left this

I'll finish this as Tiger 312 from SPzAbt 505 as I have always liked the pictures of it and it fits the time frame. Sure are alot of posts for something that has not started yet. no?
