My First Time Group Build

and to further explain the need for a donor kit, This is the interior/ cockpit. This is IT. The whole thing!

Ok everybody. First things first. A few of the "robbed" parts from a donor kit that will definitely help the interior of this thing. After this will be the clean up and painting of the parts and we're off to the races!

Thanks Bish. Just trying to add SOMETHING to the interior since I am going to be displaying the canopy in the open postion. I'm not going to get carried away with the engine on this one. Gotta keep it somewhat simple so Joseph can be involved.

It looks like you have the right pics of the decals, just scan them into a computer or have a friend do that. Then all you need to do is print them out onto decal paper. Testors decal paper works great, I make all my decals that way. you can even find pictures online and make them into decals.

I even save the little peices of decal paper. if it's too small to run though the printer. Print your decal on to a regular size paper. Then tape the decal paper over your pic on the paper, and run it through the printer again. Just make sure you don't have any tape where the decal will be printed.

Also, it looks like you'll need both clear and white decal paper. 99.999% of printers don't print white. So the white decal paper will make the white parts.

Also, don't forget the spray can of decal bonder, otherwise the decal ink will run when you put it in water.

PS, If your computer savy already, I apologize, but you said you didn't know what your going to do.

The problem is they've glued themselves to the inside of the bag. I cant get them out to scan them without damaging them. 

I guess i could try scanning them through the bag.

Hey guys, I have not forgot this build.  I am waiting to get paint and materials but I am a little low on funds right now.  I was going to do an SBD Dauntless cause thats the first one I remember when returning to modeling.  I had a flash back of building an SR-71 was I was a pre teen waaay back.  So since  I have two in the stash that's what I will be using for this build.  Will post pics soon.  (can not post pre teen together with it getting censored...   )

Heu evryone, I have to wait on getting my P38 as I need to purchase brake rotors for my 1:1. My so called "new" mechanic put a wheel bearing and new brake pads on the front of my GMC Sonoma for our PA state inspection. The only problem is the rotors on it were/are warped really bad and were really rusted. I bought it last year and never looked at the brakes. So, now I have to put more $$$ into it. Only this time, I'm doing the work myself. So I know it will be fixed right.

Sorry for the rant. I'll let you know when I get the P 38.

Hey Brent, Sorry I missed you this morning. The computer was acting up. I'll post some more pics tomorrow at some point.

            It's all good Joe ,,  if anyone needs some closeups of a P-38 let me know ,, I have a slue af them of the Repro "Marge" from the Museum I volenteer for ,, flaps wheel bays ect.

Joe/Bish - OK mark me down as "Tentative". The first kit I built was some smaller than 1/700 scale IJN Yamato. No clue as to which kit it was and no luck with any searching. So, given that, one of my very early kits I recall building was a Revell 1/72 Saab Draken. I was 8-10 yrs old. Loved the green and blue striped camo job. Thus, I have a bid in on ebay for one in a newer boxing, but same kit. I'm pushing it to join as other GB committments are going to make it tight. But, I'm willing to give it a go. Actually signing up for this is in truth all that #@$!! Joe's fault. Bidding on the Draken ends today so that will be the deal maker or breaker as the other available Drakens are out of the price range I am willing to pay.

Joe - Your cockpit is looking excellent. I do hope you include some pics of Joseph in action.

I know the feeling JOE, can't say no to a great GB. And with my current building rate, i am falling behind already. Need to get my butt in gear.

Indeed, given that your in every GB I'm in. And as I recall your responsible for talking me into the Steel Cats GB. Good God I simply have no backbone.

Ok guys. Here it is. The completed pilots area with the completed gunners turret and gun. I opted not to go with the decal instrument panel and stole the panel from my Hasegawa stash. Joseph painted the flooring and sides of the interior of the fuselage(which will be posted later). Tonight is more primer and airbrushing on Josephs part. I scratch built the belts out of lead foil but had no way of replicating the buckles. Please forgive the use of the only few photo etch details I'm gonna do to this thing. Just couldn't let it go. Sorry for having to tilt your heads to view the second pic. I tried to resize and rotate but it wasn't happening.

Nice start Joe. I just got a base for mine today, should be able to start the build next week.

I hear ya. You are gonna pass me by quick. I'm trying to pattern this build around my sons schedule which is homework from school. He's got a couple of things to do tonight if he finishes homwork in time. I'm in no rush though. It takes however long it takes. He's showing a bit of interest in this though. He doesnt know it yet but he has a Monogram Avenger under the tree and a Hans Rudel Stuka on the way(this kid has been dying to build a tankbuster Stuka!)

I doubt it. I have decided to break my golden rule and work on more than one project at a time. Actually 3. I will have one main build, a secondary build and be catching up on Dio's. The F-86 will be my secondary build, so i will work on that one night a week. I am really behind on my builds at the moment so need to try and catch up.

I hear that too. I'm trying to get my son going to help me out a little more. I'm not going to do this whole thing by myself and call it a build from Joseph and I. He's supposed to help me out tonight so I can proceed a little futher in the morning. My point is that it would be nice if this plane was finished by the end of Dec so I can focus my attention fully on the Fw190 build. Its a prettey straight forward built but If it doesn't finish within "my time line "I'll deal with it. He's having fun while he is doing it and I don't want to push him too hard.
