The Ta 152 engine has been painted with Vallejo Metal Colors and installed. It's a bit humid here so the polyurethane gloss coat is still a bit tacky so I'll hold off on applying washes and pigments until the gloss coat is nice and dry. These Valejo Metal Colors are fantastic!
I swapped out the stock propeller and hub assembly with a resin kit from Quickboost. You can really see the difference. Lastly, I cleaned up the resin engine cowl upgrade from Quickboost. Again, the difference between the resin upgrade and the stock part is pretty evident. The Hobby Boss kit does come with two cowls. One has the cowl flaps open, and the other has flaps closed... that's pretty darn cool! The Quickboost kit has closed flaps only. Lovin' this kit!

Brandon, that polishing looks fantastic, almost doesnt need any paint!
Where did you find those small buffing pads that you used? I've only seen the ones that you said melts the plastic. I am looking to add a variable speed Dremel to my bench and was looking at those other buffing pads, thanks for the tip!
MM, thanks for the info on the brushes. I'll have to look for those Princeton brushes, I just picked up a cheap pack the other day at the local wallyworld, they arent the greatest, but they are better than a swift kick in the pants!
I'm going to have to get me some Microsol, I've got a bottle of the Microset and like the way it works, but I found out tonight that the stencils I just put down on one of the F-15E's that I've been working on still silvered a little, even after applying them to a gloss coated finish.
On the Bench: Lots of unfinished projects!

Hey bud, I'm glad you're liking that kit, makes me feel like I did a pretty decent job, even if it took awhile. (I still havent heard anything about that missing kit!)
I'm hoping to get my gift kit started as soon as I finish up the Double 15E's I've got going. I'll be posting finished pics soon on the Boeing Build page as soon as I get the new hard drive installed in my home computer. Fortunately, I can at least post comments from work when I get free time.
I was going to ask you about that kit. It's probably stuck between a couple conveyor belts at a sorting facility somewhere in Nebraska!
Ok, so I'm gonna say that all that polishing paid off. I am quite please with the outcome. This is exactly the look I was going for.

I was an educated guess on the outcome with the polished surface and the results are a super chrome like shine. I was hoping for a "airshow" look with this one and I had a heart to heart with my Alclad and we came to an understanding. Now I'm afraid to touch it and get finger prints on it.
Wear white gloves. LOL!
Ok, I'm at my whits end now. I have handled the plane with and without gloves and the finsh is going to H#11 in a hurry. Aside from that the decals won't fit the shape and they absolutely refuse to stick to the surface. I mean REFUSE, even with Microset and Micorsol they just won't bond. I'm ready to throw this through the wall !!!! It's a nice kit but the alclad I did just won't cooperate with me or the decals. I just don't know what to do now.
Any ideas?

The decals are made for the Tamiya kit and based on all the fit issues the Tamiya kit is clearly a "bulkier" bird. They dont like the curves of the kit at all and are too big. The biggest issue is the slick surface wont let the decals bond. I'm over it.
It's getting sanded and repainted, cleared and decaled in a scheme with fewer decals on the curved areas. I love how Alclad looks but Gawd help me I HATE dealing with it.
My circle-cutter arrived today! Time to make some masks for the meatballs and get this baby finished up!
Did you shoot a coat of Future or gloss coat first?
I doubt it. More like decals don't adhere well on top of a coat of Alclad.
Oh no! So sorry to hear that! I've never used Alclad but I do use Vallejo Metal Color metallics and the gloss coat is a must if decals are to be applied. Jeez that seriously stinks!

Oh, well. Scored a replacement set of decals on EvilBay for under $6 with shipping. I'll clean it up and reshoot the alclad and then clear it, which dulls the finish but at least decals will stick. Then I'll use a scheme that doesn't use the ones that go over the complex curves and I should be fine. I just hate doing things twice, it just fries my butt. But alas, that's modeling.

Alrighty then! I have the repaint complete. Due to my over polishing of the surface the Alclad just wouldn't stay down either so a complete repaint was in order. The decals also didn't like the tight curves so I also switched schemes.
The first scheme I chose was the lower one. I have since repainted to accomidate the upper one.
I did a ton of digging, I mean a ton, and I found a website dedicated to these planes and it lists them all and what happened to them. The ones that have known photos were also published. My choise, "Cherry II" was posted and pictured. It's the only one I think that exists of this bird. It was lost to a ground fire on an airbase in France in '56. This is it here. I went ahead and decided to stick to its look, weathered and dull.
This is where I am today. I will let everything settle and dry a bit then decals start tomorrow. I can lay down most of them from what I have left. The others will have to wait for the Ebay order to arrive with replacements. More to come as I move along.

Thanks guys. Here is where is sits at the moment. I am waiting on decals for the wings that I need to replace and the insignias on the sides that I lost on the repaint. Other than that and final assembly it is nearly done. Gonna be a week or better before I get back to it.
So as I close in on wrapping up my Ta-152, I look over the painting guide and what do my eyes behold...? Squiggles!!

I thought I was done with assembly until I was looking around E-Bay and saw a stowage set for this kit. So as you can see I just had to have it. I had to make my own sandbags for the front armor as the kit came with a assembly that had you replace the kits armor with theirs. Seeing how I already had the kit assemble and really glued in place there was no way it was coming off.
This is my first time making sandbags, it looked easy on You-Tube but I will say I had problems trying to keep them somewhat uniform.
Anyway here are some pictures with the stowage installed. Tracks are painted and weathered so once I get all this stowage painted I should be able to wrap this up in a week or two.
