Zvezda: She looks great to me! Frankly to be honest that's one of the things I hate about trying to shade or put washes on anything orange or yellow. It's so easy to overdo it. The guys have some really good advice there, I'm going to try to remember it for my own benefit.

Thanks guys, I've got the MechaG's head almost done, still not sure if I want to try to stick a LED in there to light the eyes. I need to get some photos up.

Oh, definitely use the LED. And if you are really adventurous, put a butane torch in his mouth. But I guess that will probably melt the thing.

Actually in the movie this version of MechaG had some sort of Tesla Coil thingee in the mouth that shot lightning bolts. Doesn't sound much safer though...

Order placed for the Modelkasten set. Fingers crossed that the seated figure will fit well in the cockpit. 

Modelkasten figures got in today!

Got to work putting the seated figure together with white glue, just to see if he fits in the cockpit. It seems some surgery will be required to reposition his legs and have him lose some weight! He’s a little big for the cockpit. Surgery scheduled for this weekend. 

Hope it works out. Figure looks great otherwise.

Started work on the pilot figure last weekend. Re-positioned both legs and the right arm. Put him on a weight loss program to get his lower torso slimmer. Result:

After another work-related absence, the Nanzan project continued.

Lighter shades of the main color were sprayed thin on various panels.

A coat of Humbrol enamel matt clear was applied by brush.

Some exhaust etc stains were added with dry pastels. 

Landing gear, propeller and rest of tiny bits were assembled.

I even managed to make a wire antenna from stretched sprue

Thus this build is announced as completed.

Below you may find some pictures. The first 2 photos were shot outside with natural light.

All comments and suggestions will be more than welcomed.

Zvezda, that looks really good, quite a nice job on the trainer. 

I can't tell, but did you go back in lighten the panel lines?  They look decent given the overall colour of the Nanzan.

*Pre-started are fine as long as they're under 10-20% finished (light assemby)

Hi, Gamera! I would like to join this Group Build. I will build the Tamiya 1/32nd Mitsubishi (English: "Three Diamonds") A6M5 Model 52 Zero (Zeke)  Kit# 60318. I bought this kit from Hobby Link Japan back in mid-2018, to go along with my other 1/32nd Tamiya kits (P-51D, F4U-1A, and Spitfire Mk. VIII), and couldn't decide which to build first. Well, now I know which one I'll build first. I'll get some pictures of the unstarted kit up as soon as I renew my Fotki account (I let it lapse a few months back). What I've seen so far on the group build has been outstanding, to say the least.

So far it's a great kit, the black parts are a rubber-like material which I wonder how they'll hold up in the long term though. Still, I'm going to paint over them so that will hopefully help them to last. And everything is snap fit. I've used some cement where I used putty but otherwise I can disassemble it if I need to.

The resistance is due to me taking 3 years to finish a tank! LOL! 

I'll be following your Mech-G build closely; I thought that was a rubber like material. I look forward to seeing what you paint that material with.
