Yes, although some may have a time limit on joining.  Read through the rules of the particular GB, and then ask in that thread if you cannot find the answer you seek.

Building Now:

1/48 Tamiya F4U-1A - 5%

Upcoming:

IS it only possible to join a GB during the initial phase, or can one join after its started?

Just use a little bit of your imagination and some of your creativity. For example, I created the Lend-Lease GB, since I realized it was a fresh idea, no one ever did before. Thus realizing the potential for such a GB I started it, and it currently has over 30 members!Cool [8D] Believe it or not this is the first GB I started.

I have been joining the gbs,  mostly of those guys who mentioned the rules and etcs are right and also you can make ur own but make sure you do follow the simple conpect of the rules.  I do know few gbs dont need a deadline until u feel its time to end it.  Some of them are willing to postpone the deadline if need.  so  its all up to you whatever u feel is right.

I have a questions,  how do i come up with good idea of group build? such as name of group build?  any suggestion? let me know  thanks

not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but you might also check back and see if the subject has been done, and if so how long ago.

as for being the leader, I would think having pictures of your work is really necessary. { you can always use a film camera and have the film transfered to CD. places like WAL*MART will do it inexpensivily NOT professional quality processing but it is cheaper than a new camera

Bondoman has some excellent points.  A couple of other things I have found really help keep a GB going strong.

Be visible as often as possible, and check in frequently.  When potential modellers ask to sign up, try to respond as soon as possible.

Pick a start date 2-4 weeks after the Gb is announced.  Too soon and people tend to miss and possibly not sign up if it is allready underway.  A reasonable end date really helps as well.  Pick a short one like a month or so, and most will not participate (except for a few quick weekend-type GB's) as that may not be enough time to complete a build.  Too long and interest seems to wane after a couple of months.  HTH! Thumbs Up [tup]

While I'm new here I actually joined the forum to get in on a GB as an incentive to actually work on a model.Laugh [(-D]

From my observations the builds have a start and end date.

They usually also have a list of do's and don'ts.

OOB, Aftermarket, scratch, size, whatever.

Look though diffirent threads and see how each is set up and take a few notes for future reference.

That's three but here are your answers. Yes, it's between the members of the GB within the FSM lines, and yes. But you can borrow a camera, maybe.

That being said, it's not something to be taken lightly. Good ones take hands-on leadership, and time, plus you have to be at the head of the pack build-wise. Since you are a new poster, I'd do at least 3 or 4 first. What you could do tho if you have a good idea is offer it up, and someone may point you in the direction of interested folks. Good luck.

I am currently hosting the Mig Killers II GB and from my experience the rules and regualations are basicly what the host says or they are discussed and decided among the host and participants. Posting pics of your work basicly is not mandatory but you should at least show a pic or two of the finished product because some GB's rules are that you cannot collect your badge until you show a completed build. You can take a pic with a standard camera and have it scanned and put on a disc then you can upload it later from a 3.5 floppy or CD disc.

Hope this answers your questions.
