Wow, I had to shut down early for this summer & paused my pair of planes that had been going into this GB. Are there still folks as late as me? Can I finish up & get my badge, with a star beside it!? I've got pics etc. and am closing in on final details & painting over the next few weeks. I throw myself on your mercy oh great & merciful group build leader!

Bow Down Bow Down  Bow Down

I also need to sit down sometime (while paint is drying I suppose) and catch up on the completed builds that I have missed.

Cant say about the badge or the star. Looking forward to pics.Yes

Hey Mike-good to see you post.  The Hornet is looking good-can't wait to see the finished product.  Maybe it will inspire me to finish up my P-40......Embarrassed

Hornet is looking good...i am so glad this GB is still alive....there is soo much good work here...I have had a great time with my builds....I think the guys upstairs should take a closer look at the work here....worth a spot in the magazine in my humble opinion.....

Congrats to all

Aside from portholes, scratching a replacement part would be quite simple from some styrne strip. And adding those may not be overly difficult. Drill a seriesof holes and file then to proper shape and size.

I always love the lines of the Yorktown Class and the Hornet had the most attractive camo scheme of all three. I am looking forward to seeing more!Cool

On the off chance that this thread is still alive...

I hit a little road block with the Hornet as part C-27 is missing from the sprue, so I'll need to fabricate a part.

I'm cruising along on the superstructure and some of the other items that attach to the deck, which are just dry fitted for the photos.

Stikpusher and Ruddratt: wow beautiful work guys! And congrads on the award SP. Hope your fighters don't get in a dust-up and chip that sharp paint work!

Eatthis and Scott: good looking work so far. Glad to see I'm not the only one that ran over!

I have to say I'm hovering around 97% completion but there's some stuff that I just don't like about my Iwo Jima diorama that I can't lay a finger on. I'll try to get some pictures posted.  I keep moving the figures around and can't get them to suit me.

Espins, ur Hornet is looking great so far!!!! Toast

Yes, I myself would like another Pacific GB as I have many more IJN/IJA aircraft to build and or buy, and that is a perfect excuse, not that I need one.Whistling

Eatthis, your Repulse is taking shape quite nicely! I cant wait to see the finished ship. But dabbling in my first large scale ship myself I know how much you have ahead of you! Toast

Ruddrat, your Zero is a beautyToast Looking at yours makes me want to build one and put it next to my Hellcat.

Kermit, yes another Pacific themed GB would be a good idea. Perhaps next year. As usual I am up to my eyebrows in current GBs.

There is some beautiful work in this build!  Stikpusher, your Hellcat is gorgeous!  And Ruddratt, your Zero looks stunning!  Eatthis, you've got some beautiful ships in your collection!

I apologize for not being an active participant, I've just been overwhelmed with work, life, writing and health issues.  I've been working away on the Trumpeter 1/700 USS Hornet and am going to keep hammering away at this thing until it is finished.

The main tasks going on now are the continuing installations of the anti-aircraft weapons and platforms. All eight of the 5"/38 guns and mounts have been installed as have some of the smaller AA weapons. I still have many more of the smaller caliber guns to install and will be working on those this week.

In these photos, the flight deck has not yet been attached and has just been set on top for the photos.

Sorry for the lack of updates fellas, but here she is, better late than never I suppose. I wish I'd been able to more actively participate in this GB, but life has taken a bit of a turn up here and modeling sessions are few and far between. The work I've seen on this GB is top notch, and I hope my small contribution helps to at least keep the bar where you all have set it. Cheers! Toast

Embarrassed Well I know the end date was almost three weeks ago (on my birthday no less), but I will post the pics of my completed Hellcat anyways. I knuckled down the past few days and finished it up. Once the weathering and flat coat were applied, everything really seemed to pop. My local IPMS chapter thought the same last night. 1st place in the advanced category.Surprise

Thanks for looking.

Ditto  My P-40 just needs the gun sight 'enhanced' and attached, along with the canopy & some minor details painted.  However, we are leaving for our annual trek to the beach....should have it finished about an hour after I get started......whenever that is....

Cheers

P-40's, trips to the beach, Korean War subjects...I knew you were are alright guy!
