Stealth Aircraft
Posted by Casper the Chihuahua on Thursday, November 4, 2010 7:39 PM

Hi All,

I have been looking at older group builds and noticed there hasn't been a Stealth Aircraft build in the last 5-6 years.  Would this interest anyone?

I was thinking of full stealth designs, anything with reduced cross section designs, all in service, canceled, prototype, in development or demonstrators.

I myself have a Testors 1/48 SR-71 that I will be starting sometime in the New Year.

Cheers

This is somthing i would love to get in on but i am up to my nec k in builds at the moment. So between that and work, i can't commit to any GB's for a year. There seems to be alot of GB's on at the moment, if you don't get alot of interest straight away, how about putting it on back burner for 6 months or so.

Same here. Involved in three GB's that I haven't even started (stupid Osprey). Here's a pic for your Group badge.

Got a question. Do UAV's like the Predator count?

I also have a question. Would you include those aircraft that were stealth by accident. I am thinking of some of the German Luft 46 projects such as the Horten IX. I do have the usually US stealth kits, F-117, B-2, SR-71, F-22, but just like to keep the options as open as possable.

Yup, I reckon manned and unmanned would be good.  Accidental stealth would also be cool.  I think more the merrier to keep options open!

Also this potential GB could be all of next year so allows (hopefully) plenty of time for at least one kit per participant! Huh?

Ok. I'm game. Gonna see if I can find that 1/48 Predator UAV. As long as it starts at the beginning of the year.

If you want to use that pic I can ask my wife to Photoshop the GB name or whatever into it. Just let me know.

Ok I'll start a list and then put it up when we have enough support. BTW this is my 1st time organising a GB, how many people do we really want on board?

Ok, how about a Jan 2011- Jan 2012 build that inlcudes all types of manned, un-manned and accidental stealth, educed cross section designs, all in service, canceled, prototype, in development or demonstrators.

All scales, Am or no AM, pretty much anything goes I think.

Anyone interested, got 2 takers already including myself, let me know and we should have a badge soon! :) (thanks Medicman)

Cheers

I have just started my first GB as host as well, and so far it seems to have gone really well. I would say that the more people who join the better, some are bound to drop out or not be able to make the build. I would suggest that once you decide on your rules, if any, you start a new thread. Have a look at some other GB's and see what format you think is best. I like the GB's where the first post says what the build is then a second post with who is takeing part. Might i also suggest that you open this up to any stealth, i believe that there are some kits of stealth ships, so you might get some of the ship guys in.

Well, thats just a few ideas, but i am sure what ever you do it will be a good one. Put me down but i won't commit to a kit yet. I have just had to do the same for another GB as i am up to my neck until around next August, and it all depends if i get deployed abroad at the end of next year.

You might want to quickly stick in another post for the participants before someone else posts there. Unless you are just adding people to the first post.

Ye, i have seen that. That is the thread, and you have one post in it, yours. You can either make a second post to list those who are taking part or just add them to your first post. Have a look at a few other GB's to get some ideas.

Casper man you hit the ground running, good on you my friend. If I can I have been wanting to build the 1/48 Horton Ho-29. So if that subject would fit in here and I can get my grimy mitts on one I would jump in here in a heart beat.

Randy So many to build.......So little time

Yeah this is a lot of fun! Almost as fun as building the model!! You are most welcome to join, Ok that makes 5 of us now I'm keeping a list until decent numbers then I'll add the roster to my first post in the actual GB thread.

I love the Horton's cross between a bat and a boomerang shape.

Casper:

I would really be interested. I am in the same situation as Medicman and Bish. I have my own GB that I haven't even "broke box" on and am still finishing some builds for another!

I have a Testors F-117 for the tally if you like. It may be a little while before any progress pics. I hear a Viper or 3 calling my name!

Casper,

Yeah I have been away from the Forums for a bit. I also have a 1/72 Italeri Comanche (I think it was supposed to be a "Stealth" helo?) We will see. I made some major progress on my own build today....so things are looking up!
