I spent the last couple of weeks looking for the "Shelf Queens" I put into storage. I found them packed away in a box with kitchen equipment. The first kit I'd planned on completing for this GB is the 1/35 Tamiya StugIII G Early version. After researching a little more thru some of my recently uncovered library, It appears that zimm was not applied to these early G versions at all. I've decided to complete this kit for the "No More Excuses" GB. Appologies for jumping the start date, but after nearly a year away from the bench, I had to get started. A make shift bench in the spare room was readied and the tool box set into position. I'll post some progress pics asap.

Screaminhelo

I am now wondering when my airbrush will arrive.  It is in a mil van somewhere between here and Iraq!  I will be fiddling around with some of the detail items until it arrives I guess.  It is a small price to pay for Thanksgiving at home though.

That is true.  Nice to be able to eat with friends and family.

I am finally settled in the new house and got most of the workbench back up and running.  Should be ready to go by the start date at the latest.

Here's a quick picture I took with my phone today of my starting point.  I'm going to fold the wings up and this plane will be from VAQ-209, the Star Warriors (Fightertown Decals "Dark Knights and Dragons" sheet)

Christian Theodotou

I'd like to enter this group build.  I've got a shelf queen 1/48 Kinetic EA-6B Prowler that has its fuselage assembled but is unpainted.  I'll try to take a picture or two as soon as I can.

Thanks for your interest Christian Theodotou!  I will add you to the roster.

Here's my shelf queen the F-105D. Still needs a lot of work and probably a second coat of paint to boot. I  planned  the model with gear-up along side the Hobby Craft Mig-17 as a Friend vs Foe display.

Having just completed my very first group build yesterday after several previous failed attempts with others,  think I will try and tackle this one. As for shelf queens GOD I got so many to choose from but I think I will start with the Hobby Craft 1/32 F-105 Thud. It was to be in another group build a couple years back but what with family issues, moving to another State and parent death and the sense of having lost my model building M*o*jo (can't believe that's a censored word)  it was shelved with so many other of my kits and projects. I will post a couple pics of the Thud in it's current shape tomorrow evening.

a few pics of where i got up to on this build in 09

you can see the pumped out guards. good for big nascar wheels, but not factory correct. looking it over, it seems like there's too much different from factory to actually make it how i want.

Bish

Big Smile i think you should be careful, you could end up with more badges than particapants

Where do people find all these images.

True.  I probably won't make this one a badge and just keep it as an inspirational photo.  I just seach on Yahoo images for "no excuses".

ok, this is my oldest WIP that's been posted (i'm sure i've got older ones that i've forgot about).

77 Ford Thunderbird from the movie 'Junkman'. - posted on partbox forum Sun May 03, 2009.

I couldn't find a 1/25 scale thunderbird except for a nascar based one, which i decided i could turn back into factory stock. i'm combining it with a mercury cougar kit for the factory bits. all was going well, i filled in the wheel arches and painted it and got to this point... then i realised i didn't flatten out the guards, which looks cool but is a long way from factory correct. the project was put on hold as i'll have to cut off the whole guard and make new ones. which means a repaint of the two tone paint and well, i kinda put it aside instead. time to Git 'er done!

rest of the WIP here

the real red baron
do you mind if i start now? because i finally found some free time which is rare so may i start my blenhiem restoration?

Actually, an earlier start would be better for me too, because I'm trying to work my way through the part-builds, before I start something new.  I might not even have a part-build for the 1st December (although I doubt it!).  However, happy to wait for the official start too.

I would like to join in; I have couple Revell 1:48  P-51Ds that I had started for the NMF II GB last year. Here are couple pics of the start assemblies; not much else has been done except paint the IP and play around with SB and paint the seats.

I also primed the above parts. I will re-start the build(s) early 2012.

One P-51D will be the BBD, other one will be a Green nose.

I would also add, if possible, another "genre": Guillow's balsa/tissue  P-51D.  Not a different genre but I have never done a balsa model before.

cheers

Bish, I just might do that.  I will search a little more tonight for another pic but I will probably just add some text to that pic and add it to the front page.
