Italeri actually bought back the name Supermodel as part of it's line up now. They've released I think at least 3 kits combinng 1/48 aircraft and armor at a very, very reasonable price.  My cr42 and AB41 show previously is one of these kits, I think I paid less for the 2 together than what you need to pay for the Italeri cr42 by itself now. The have another truck and the ESCI hs-219 as a combo.

Here's a link to a review of the ab41/cf42 combo kit.

Nice pieces, originally the founder of italeri and the founder of supermodel was in the same industry, after one keep the italeri and the other founded the supermodel Surprise so i know....

then here the old kits arrived

and the specific re-2001 falco II

the old owner started to rescribe panel lines

and the back of the box with other supermodel subjects , some are reboxed and improved from italeri as Waikong says

start probably this night to work with it

well the MAIALE italian 2 man chariot is done but not listed as my specific build. am working on CENTAURO VRC-105. my airbrushing needs improving but the "mistakes" actaully enhanced the pre weathering. will get decals on today and weather wheel wells and tires so i can add the wheels tonight. playing with gauzes for rolled camo nets and doing the BRD camo net draped gun barrel. will add stowage. the other 2 will be easier given what i learned.

thanks. got the decals on. looks like some mud is in order. nice thing about armor and i wanted to do something with caked mud anyway so this is it. not sure what to use for the texturing of the mud before painting thr mud color. i use modeling clay for my bases and paint it a color close to the ground cover color and that works well though i'm not sure how well it will stick to painted plastic. my last two dirtied up models were canadian un white wheels so green will be different.

Looks like this GB has been busy!!

waynec - I didn't know you were building a mini-sub.  Very different entry and it looks great!  The Centauro is another cool entry, I don't think there's any modern armor built here yet.  Can't wait to see it done!

bsyamato - nice work on the Veltro and Falco!  All that detail work is really making a difference!

Eric - HEY!  Theres the Semovente!  Man those tracks do look nice, even though the sprocket teeth didn't fit...I didn't even notice them missing except you mentioned it somewhere else.  Excellent build overall dude!  The camo job, weathering and tracks are outstanding!   YesYes

dupes - Man I'm looking forward to the completion of your little AB 41.  I really like this Italian armored car.

waikong - Your little Fiat bipe is looking good!  I love all the detail in the cockpit

I actually got started on the Zvezda M13/40 last weekend!  It was so nice outside I took the kit, tools and supplies outside to work on the patio!

To augment the kit I'm using a Jordi Rubio barrel, Friul tracks and Eduard PE

The suspension took a while; cleaning up all the little wheels, leaf springs and bogie housings.  I was pleasantly surprised how sharp the detail is.  Here they are all assembled.  Oh, I accidentally stepped on one of the leaf spring retaining plates, breaking off all the supports.  I had to scratch new ones from Evergreen rod.

I cleaned up all the major hull panels and pre-assembled with Tamiya tape.  Generally the fit is pretty good, with just some minor gaps to fill.  Pic with the bogies temporarily added.

The Eduard PE is actualy designed for the Tamiya kit, but it seems to fit the Zvezda kit.  I won't use all of it, especially the interior PE parts, but I definitely would like to correct the louvers over the radiators.  Instead of running laterally across the top, they should run longitudinally front to rear.   A simple matter of cutting the kit louvers off, but what to do about the empty space beneath?

Bsyamato, fine job on the scratched seat. Beer

Ernest, thanks for the kind words. It likes you're zipping through your project. Gee, not much rim on those wheels to play with is there? The detail seems decent enough.

tried used artist tube acrylics. i will have to experiment more with those. did not think this build through from the beginning. working on pe for lights and mirrors. primed all the pe on the fret and painted it on the fret. should be fine with some touch up. working on a rolled camo net for left side and playing with gauze draped over the barrel. sure is a sleek but mean looking machine.

bsyamato and waynec, you guys are just zooming along!  There's no keeping up with you!  I didn't get much done this weekend as it was just so nice outside, I couldn't sit inside at the bench.  Hopefully I can get some work done on the M-13/40 during the week.

bsyamato, that's some major scratch buidling there. Looking very nice. Great effort on the rescribing too, I've done that a few times, and absolutely hated the effort involved, so my hats off to you.

got the pe for the mirrors, and all 4 headlights on and painted. major PITA. poor fold instructions and fit. not as good as the LAV-III pe. once again, as with the MAS, i had to remind myself it always look bad before it's finished. maybe i need to make a big sign. no pics since it isn't that much different. think it's dulcoat time and work on something else this evening. will be playing with camo netting for gun barrel too.

Pre-shaded:

This is my second attempt at pre-shading and it's probably too heavy Embarrassed

I can't answer you Baron, since I'm more of an armor builder. I'm not sure i believe in preshading, but that is me, and again, I'm an armor builder. However, I have a Zero that I'm ready to basecoat, so I need to choeck out all angles.

Bsyamato, that pit turned out real well with the weathering. Busy little area.

Bsyamato - nice range of colours in that small pit

Baron - I don't think you can go too dark with pre-shading, it just allows you to be heavier handed when you later spray on the aircraft colour.  I believe this method originated as a way to make a more interesting finish of a  monotone aircraft scheme.  The visual realist that I am, I've tried to explain to myself what this darker tone really represents.  I think it is probably  dirt,  oil, lubricants etc. that has accumulated around panel lines.  Factoring in the slip stream when aircraft is flying, the dirtied up area would be more prominent on the aft side of the lines and less apparent on those lines running in the direction of airflow.  But this is just my opinion.

Here's an example with my current build:

Jack

RRB the preshade lines seem out of all too wide  (you using an airbrush?)

Jack another good spitfire there Yes

Thanx for comments guys Bow Down probably finished with the rescribe and accuracy mods (read rivet counter!!) on the little reggiane, but think not able to finish never this in time for the GB Embarrassed

heres the updates

corrected the nose guns and bottom panels

primed almost all pieces to reveal where needed more putty and sanding

i'm confused. this reply and the badge says this ends 31may12 but the post title says 30jun12. not to worry for me. will be powder weathering my VRC-105 on sunday and than add the mg and antenna since i know i will knock something off doing the weathering. like my MAS this went from "it looks like crap" to "it still looks like crap" to "i wouldn't enter this in a local contest" to "wow it's looking pretty good." maybe it's an italian thing.
