TREYZX10R

Which kit is this TREYZX10R? I "gifted" a 1/72 kit with very similar markings to my brother-in-law like 15 years ago and the bugger has yet to build it!!! You're making me seriously consider breaking into his place and "un-gifting" it....Angry

I found the movie "Sole Survivor" last night on You Tube. Good movie, While the b-25s are good, I lean more toward the B-24. Thats just a personal opinion.

Tony: She looks great! Then again I'm not sure there's any way to make a Mossie look bad! I can see the pre-shading a little, I know what you mean about the camera wiping it out though- happened to me several times.

Kudos sir!!!

Thanks guys.

Len - I had to build this thing for a club event this weekend, and as I am out of town for a few days from tomorrow, today was the deadline. I will come back and do a few more Tamiya Mossies I think. It's not quite my favourite kit, but its a good one.

Just had an idea that a 'Favourite Kit' GB might be a good thing.

BTW, this is my first multi piston engined aircraft since the early eighties.

Cheers

Tony

taxtp

And here's the completed shots. I do quite like the look of it, although it's a bit of a rush job, and the deadline precluded doing a few things.

My pre-shading is still under represented in the photos.

I'll take the badge now :)

Cheers

Tony

Tony- Very cool Mossie! I built the Tamiya kit for "The Way Too Many Props" GB and it was a very good kit. One question...you say the deadline is preventing more work being done? I just checked the front page and this GB expires in March/13....wasn.`t sure if you realized that or have a self-imposed deadline. I`m in this GB with a Revell Ventura and haven`t even cracked the seal...you got me nervous for a minute...Stick out tongueWinkBig Smile

Hi Folks,

Sorry about the lack of photo updates, I've really been in a mad sprint to get the Mossie done in time. 1am sessions most nights, oh well.

These are the last in progress pics. Glossy, but the photo has washed out my pre-shading.  Ireally don't like Tamiya decals much, they always seem prone to silvering. I tried wet Future under each decals this time. Still had some silvering on the stencils to deal with.

Thanks Gamera. The Mossie is painted and has a gloss coat  now, waiting for decals. I have to finish it by Friday night this week, so I've raced ahead without pausing for photos. I'll try to take some before starting on the decals tonight.

Cheers

Greg thanks!

I'm calling it done . This was a challenge for me in several areas . The most difficult was the Wellenmuster cammo. Hope you all enjoyed seeing it come together,I certainly enjoyed building it despite the crumbly decals.

Cheers Trey

Just a spectator here, but I wanted to say great work guys!  Luft squiggle is very cool.  Awesome, Trey!

The Mossie is really nice too.  It is only 1/72?  Very detailed interior.

Cheers,

Greg

Doug you're so right about the micosol wish they sold it by the gallon!

Len I've seen your quality work do'nt sell yourself short, you could pull off a most excellent 88 me thinks! And thanks, now go rinse your mouth out with soap ya bad boy ;)

Cliff thanks glad ya like the soot stains!

Tony the Mossie is coming along nicely. You're correct the pre-cut mask are a great thing! Would'nt want to tackle any multi-plane canopy by hand ever again.

I'm closing in on the fiddly bits, just have some Mast wiring and a few minor tweaks. I'm so ready to have this done and move on to something a little less involved for the next build!

Latest progress shot on the Mossie. I've used Eduard Mask CX121, which fits pretty well. The teardrop side windows have tape edges filled in with masking fluid.

I wouldn't want to do this canopy without a masking set, one of the great innovations I think.

Great stuff Trey, it looks terrific. I've just noticed how big it is. Great work on the canopy mask too, that could have been ugly.

Excellent work... Just beautiful!  I've had decals crack and tear upon installation...(specially older ones) Heartbreaking, specially when youve done such a great build. Sometimes if not too badly damaged a bit of microsol has helped, other times you just gotta walk away  and fight the urge to see how far your finished build will fly(grin). Again Trey... Bravo!

Thanks for all the generous kind remarks from everyone, really appreciated! Cliff you're too funny ....nightcrawlers lmfao!!!

Tony the mossie is looking real clean and sharp so far!

I had a nightmare decal session, they were literaly falling apart on me. I was able to spray some decal bonder and save the bulk of them ,but I had to hand paint in a lot of details and a complete letter B on the port side. The F letters were ruined so I used the C's ,do'nt know if there was a B3+CL in KG54 but for this build its close enough for me. I also sprayed some weathering and dullcote now all that remains are the odd fidly bits. On a positive note the canopy mask came off clean and crisp.

thanks for looking ,cheers Trey

Thanks guys, here's a bit more progress. Major components fit exceptionally well. I need a trace of filler on the upper port wing root, but I'd say it was my fault.
