lostagain,

Wow! Excellent finish up on the gunship.  Congrats!   A well deserved badge for that one!

Hope to see more of your work.

Okay, here we are the 4th of July, time to deliver...

Gave it a dot filter - first time not on armour - could have done with a yellow in this case.

Then a few pastels and pigments, followed by a flat seal (Tamiya can)

Off came the masks, and some of the clear parts went on. Then off with work for a few days. Back last night, did the last of the bug eye windows and a dust of pastels, and final photos this morning.

First one is the front office and Princess Nausicaa with her two cannon and two aerial mortars? Love the sit of the undercarriage.

Uncle Mito in the back office looking after the engines and this n' that...

And a look underneath as well

This model is a convertible thanks to the clever people at Bandai...

It's not a big model, 23 cms wingspan and 12 cms long. Sorry but I forgot to do a 5 cent shot (smallest coin in Australia). This has been an interesting change, so different from my usual aircraft, or maybe not.

So that is my first group build but definitely not my last.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, and special thanks to Ken for hosting the group.

I am probably too late to start on the Tamiya Lotus Super 7 from the English TV shoe 'The Prisoner', maybe next time.

Have a happy July 4th if you are in the USA, and congratulations on reaching the World Cup quarter finals, you did better than us!

Thanks for the encouragement folks.

Okay it's been a month and I have got a bit sidetracked. but things have been happening. Motor/exhaust detail has been added and painted. Undercarriage and flaps have been painted.

The body was closed up and the wings and flaps hung on. Had my first go at preshading panel lines:

Then the panels were painted with a good bit of variation;

Only to work out the colour was all wrong so I had to mix up a custom batch - what looks good under one light does not match under another...

So a respray followed by a sealer coat ready for washes:

  Colour looks better now.

So be back before too long - have to be!

GAF

Lostagain: Looks like it's coming along nicely!

Hopefully Ken will be along to add you to the roster.  He's been a bit scarce recently due to other things.

Cody:  Beautiful interior work for the Challenger.

Gary

Gary: Thanks, I'm trying to get back on track. I should be in more now.

Lost: I have you posted now. My apologies for not getting to it sooner. It's looking great

CMK, very good work, didn't get a grasp of the detail size until the penny shot

Slowly working away at mine, but close to finishing a vampire and sea fury that have been the main players for the last few months.

Uncle Mito, Princess Nausicaa and their cockpits ready to go in

Thanks!  I used Tamiya Semi-gloss for the interior.  It was my first time using a Tamiya semi-gloss and I was very happy with the tone that it dries to.

Cody, that is some outstanding work!  Great detail on the dashboard instruments, and you accomplished an excellent finish on the seats.  Looks extraordinarily real.

Checkmateking-  WOW I had no Idea it was that small!  That's some awesome detail and as mentioned before great water workings!

Well here is a bit of work on the interior.  I decided to take a few pics before its assembled.  Thankfully I had a decently steady hand today so I painted the silver on the grill and the wood inlays on the dash, doors, and console.

From me too - thanks for the date extension

I have started  'Gunship of the Valley of the Wind' from the Studio Ghibli movie 'Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind'

Builds usually take me 3 months, hopefully a GB will keep me on track.

And I thought it would do me good to get away from planes for a change...

"Thanks, Ken.  Any of the photos will do.

Great group build, by the way.  And thanks for extending the time, or I'd have never gotten Enterprise finished. "

You're Welcome CMK, I'm not sure when I'll be able to finish mine. But I will. That penny sure makes it look small. LOL The crew can cut it up to make more anti-aircraft shells.

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone.

Thanks, Bish.  You're comments are always appreciated.

That she turned out so well surprises me!

See you over at the "Longest Day" GB.  I've started cleaning up the pieces now.

And a final line-up; this should be the last I inflict on you.

And last, the obligatory "penny" photo to keep the scale in perspective.

Thanks again, Ken, for hosting the group build.  It was a great learning experience, since Enterprise is only the second ship I've used extensive PE parts with.  Frustrating at times, and if it weren't for being in the build, I might have sunk Enterprise myself a few times.

You've been a good host, and I appreciate taking part in this.

Fair winds and following seas to everyone still building.  I'm looking forward to seeing the continuing progress of all the other participants.

Thanks, Gary.  I've seen "Midway" several times and never noticed the "Midway march."  Maybe I'll check for the soundtrack.

Thanks also for the information about "Dive Bomber."  I don't think I've ever seen it, so I'll have to look it up.

Thanks, Cody.  I used an old Floquil product called "Crystal Cote" to get the shine on the "water," which is painted with acrylic craft paints.

I like what you've done with the chassis.  Looking very good.

Thanks, Bish.  The "water" is a temporary base for photos, made out of aluminum foil and painted.

i'll use one these until you get the other pics.

Cody> Great looking chasis!  She'll be a beauty.

CMK02>  Inspiring!  Que the "Midway March"!!

I don't know if Enterprise was in "Midway", but she was certainly in this one!  As she appeared in 1940-41.

Congrats on getting her finished.  Look forward to more pictures!

That's a good looking base Check!  The last pic shows off the illusion of reflections on the water.

Built the Engine, suspension, and put the tires on.  The engine got some aftermarket spark plug wires.

Finished USS Enterprise CV-6 last night.  Her real self appeared briefly in the 1976 "Midway" film (via stock footage), and John Ford's wartime documentary, "The Battle of Midway," released in 1942 (I hope; I recently read that the planes leaving "a" carrier in the film might be from the "Hornet!?").  According to Wikipedia, Henry Fonda and Ray Milland are among the narrators.

Managed to get three pictures before the camera battery required recharging, so will post more later.
