Canadian GB
Posted by gunner_chris on Monday, April 29, 2013 8:56 PM

There was enough interest in the feeler thread so lets do this!

Here are the 'rules':

1 - any subject, any genre as long as its in Canadian Markings

2.  Fantasy builds are acceptable as long as you follow #1 (the CF would love some Apache's)

3.  Canadians flying with the RAF are good to go

4.  Crossovers from over GB's are fine

5.  OOB, A/M, scratchbuilding, the sky is the limit

6. Started builds are fine as long as they are less then 50%

7.  Most important, have fun and share your build

Run dates are May 1st until December 31st (8 months)  Feel free to sign up any time.

This is my first GB so please be gentle.  If I missed something I'm open to friendly reminders.

Here's the badge thanks to JGeratic:

Feel free to grab it whenever

I will contribute Johnny Kent's Hurricane (Airfix 1/72) from the Battle of Britain.  Read his autobiography a few months ago, and then picked up some decals.  His life and service are pretty interesting.

I would love to be in on this, pending my schedule for the next few months. I want to do a 1/72 Revell Twin Mustang in RCAF colors. Never actually existed, but it would have made sense since the USAF used them for continental defense in Alaska.

Great to have you guys aboard. Roster is updated.

Budd I put you down now, so whenever you're ready to start it will be good to go.

I put myself down for TBA, I'm torn if I want to do a crossover or do something different.  I have a CF-18 on the go for the 1/72 build, and plan to do a M7 Preist for the D-Day GB.  Part of me says as the host be original.

If no one does a Voodoo I might do that.....

I would be a poor Canadian if I didn't get in on this one. Can you put me in for Italeri's 1/72 scale CF-5

Glad to have you, and you raised a great point.

I decided to do an Arrow - no Canadian GB would be complete without it

And make sure you give vance a kick, he has no excuse to missing this.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I would LOVE to do a Voodoo! I have actually been wanting to do one in Canadian markings for a while now, but I don't have one to do! So I will stick with the F-82 for now.

Bish - sorry to hear you can't jump in, but yes you are a busy man!

Wayne - got you on there!

Sub - I was torn too.......so many choices.  I'm sure we can come up with another excuse to dig out some Voodoos another time

After this GB you could always do one with plane that have a ghost type name.

Voodoo, Phantom, etc.

Welcome tates.

I'm doing the 1/72 Hobbycraft CF-18 right now, not impressed so far.

Maybe this will help: www.ipmscanada.com/.../CF18Hornet.html

This going to be really tight for me as by no means am I a machine when building these things, but do put me down for a Hawker Typhoon - 1/48 scale from Hasegawa.

It will be in RAF markings, the pilot though will be Canadian.

Jack

So I've ordered a hasegawa f-18c plus a cf-188a conversion kit from wolfpack designs and decals from leading edge. So if I got time I'll try to add a cf-18 to this build.

I'm in, won't be starting until the summer though, but I will be lurking until then.  I'm narrowed down to 2 options, 1/48 DH Vampire or 1/72 Canadair Sabre. I also have a possible what-if in the works, not letting the details out yet though. Whistling

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

GRIZZLY 6x6 WIP. it is based coated with tamiya acrylic NATO green and i will use NATO black for the camo. don't have all the fiddly stuff on to make it easire to mask and less likely, in the case of mirrors, to knock off. will mask with silly putty (first attempt) or tape. vision block glass will be clear green perhaps darkened a bit. probably some road dirt on the wheels and belly may try and see what a raw umber wash will look like. looks good on diesel locomotive.

We found Vance!

Wayne that does look great.

I cracked the box on the Arrow tonight, looked at what I needed for paint and then sighed when I saw the cockpit area and then closed the box.

It appears I need to paint up some pilots before I do much more......and shop for some white paint

waynec

i think i have the revell one (marine) i will be starting for a collection project for Colorado National Guard. building it as a US Army one.

The Revell H-34G kit has the straight 'V' style landing gear on the sprue  which perfect for U.S Navy and USMC helo's but I'm pretty sure the Army stayed with the bent gear style through out it service . I've been buying from seller's on ebay those Revell kits so I can build a few different versions for the Navy and Marine Corps birds . I wish Italeri  would simply leave both types of landing gear on the sprue ... Super Angry
