SS my base paint was sprayed with Tamiya XF60 Dk Yellow with a little Tamiya Buff mixed in. The camo colors are also Tamiya XF64 Red Brown and XF81 Dk Green.

Bish here are the buildings, I added styrene stock inside edges that added stability and a glueing surface. I have them all together and glued so my next step is to putty up the seams. I think this is where I'm going to run into a time issue, trying to get a nice painting surface.  

Yep, those MiniArt buildings need a lot of improvement in terms of the assembly and cut out.

I built mine without any reinforcements just a lot of patience glueing both sides, filling and sanding.

Never again will I buy another Miniart until they fix this stuff. There are better nicer kits without all the hassle, much more detailed in resin, easy to glue, no cut needed and even come with some wood and PE parts.

EDIT: Aaron and I went snooping around the Australian War Memorial website. Here's the complete collection of photos of the New Zealanders (not Aussies as I said previously) who captured the Matilda. 

So, I'm assuming that the camo scheme was the original applied by the Brits. The Germans added the crosses.

 But, then looking at references online, they hold up way better than the Tamiya suggest colors. So, here's a lesson for everyone--do your research!

And, have you guys seen my review of the Moebius Models Cylon Raider? (Shameless self-promotion!) I had a great time building it. If you're at all into sci-fi, I'd suggest it.

Yes, there's a great color difference indeed, that is more yellow and the slate really looks much better tha Tamiya, which esentially seems black.

I guess you are moving on to the  painting....good progress. 

I just saw that Cylon raider and it looks awesome!, that is a HUGE kit. I have always wanted to build a Galactica fighter....not even sure if its that the correct name.... but maybe some day, maybe..

I just looked at the raider review, that thing is big. Not on my shopping list, but I hope we will see some built here soon.

So, OK, some more update... the PE is almost finished, some more details here and there.

I need to start thinking on the paints I will use...hmmmm...probably will paint it in the Russia 1944  cammo scheme of dessert color with faded green and red brown....a LOT of weathering, mud, dust and chipping.

Here are some pictures, the parts are not glued, I have 7 different sub assemblies in order to be able to paint them and with all the details I need to reach them. Since this is a vehicle that has been taken over, I assume a lot of parts would be missing over the batlles, and by Germans trying to empty it or just stolen parts or used on other vehicles, thats why you will see a lot of things missing, eg. tools, boxes, spare tracks, etc.

So here it is:

The Hummel is looking really nice. And do my eyes deceive me, or do I spot some plastic.

I think the missing parts is a good idea.

I picked up both the Raider and the Viper Mk 1. they are big kits and the raider is larger than a dinner plate. Looking forward to putting them together.

so how much was the Aftermarket plastic kit for the Hummel?

I'm where I was last time I posted pics due to school and everything.

i'm where i was when i joined this GB. finishing up some current builds that won't be competition quality though they all start out with that in mind. OTOH the 1/72 stuff is looking good.

I've kept up with your build and every time I look at it I'm still amazed at al the PE, honestly that has to be a very tough build trying to keep all the PE right. It bends to easy and is just an additional layer of anxiety, this is one I can't wait to see it all painted up. That Hummel is really going to be something.

Also on the Mini Art buildings, this will be my last until they take the time to manufacture a product so people can build them. Its like they had a good idea but somewhere they dropped the ball by vacuforming. It just doesn't work unless someone wants to spends months on a single project.  Terry

Just a quick update on the King Tiger. I have the tracks on and weathered the wheels and lower hull. I see by the photos I still need to add some steel to the cleats but for the most part they're done except for an overall dusting. Same for the main hull and turret, I still have a lot of work to do in a lot of places, but this is what I have with tracks and turret on. I also have a driver in place. Terry

The BT-5 kit came in this weekend and I'm attaching the circular radio ariel from that kit to the T-26 turret now. I did end up breaking a couple of the supports trying to sand them, hopefully will have it installed some sort of way soon.

Hey everyone.  My apologies for a late start, but I finally got the time to start the T34!  It's Tamiya's kit and it is a great kit!  This is my first "big boy" tank build, and so far it is awesome!  With some help from Bish, I got some really good research pics of the T34.  Then, I noticed that the kit came with both "rubber" and "steel" wheels!  Closer looks at the pics and noticed that they mixed and matched where they could.....so, I'm going to put a few steel wheels on the tank!  Also had a pic with one of the steel wheels with a piece "broken" off!  So I'm going for it and going to try and do that too!  Anyway, here are the first pics of the build.  I did the first 4 steps in about 2 hours.  Going to spend more time on the gun and turret parts.  Thanks for looking!

Hey Gamera!  I didn't notice until I got started on the kit that there were only 4 sets of steel wheels!  I thought you could do either or, but it looks like Tamiya already had the "mix and match" idea down!  I was excited about the pics and decided to do the mix and match, AND going to try and "break" one of the steel wheels!  Pretty cool for my first "big boy" tank!

Eagle thats going to be something to look at. Shouldn't be to difficult cutting that wheel out and chisel away until its right, but looking at those photos that was one dirty tank. The camo pattern is interesting too. Should be a fun build.

LOL!  One dirty tank will help hide the novice mistakes I make! 

Not sure yet if I'll do the camo pattern or a straight green paint job.  Either way...lots of dirt and mud!

Eagle good to see you started. I still blame Bish for getting me into armour. Now I have as many armour kits as I do aircraft T-34 is a good start and I like the mix and match of the wheels. The broken wheel will really add to the look.

Thanks Terry! As I said in the review, it was an absolute blast to build. I gave the model to a friend of mine who is a huge BSG fan. It's sitting on his dining room table. I thought that was a pretty good compliment.

I got all my stuff off the shelf this morning, just making sure I have everything.  I should be starting in a week, or so, getting anxious.....  especially seeing all the nice work going on here.

Very nice start Eagle, this T34 should look very nice. Are you going to put a flag in the hatch like the photo?, that would look so vivid and provide reality to the model.
