Great idea Steve, I wish I'd thought of that.

Thanks!

A little story behind it.  My grandparents bought a '36 Chevy 4 door sedan in 1936.  Must have been doing pretty well.  It's the first car my dad remembers.  There is no kit for a '36, but I found this in the LHS a while ago.  I'm not going to try to convert it to a sedan, but will do it as close as possible to what he remembers, color and interior wise.

It should be a beautiful example, Steve.  Looking forward to seeing it come together.

I’d like to jump into the GB with the HobbyBoss FW-190D. It’s been a pretty straight forward build to this point as can be seen in the following pics. Since this is a straight OOB build, I’m not adding anything extra. Since it doesn’t come with a pilot, I’m kind of dismayed there isn’t any seatbelts included. I also don’t see any advantage to the use of PE on the tiny parts of the cockpit. This was brush painted with MM acrylics. This was brush painted with MM acrylics. Appreciate any thoughts and tips for improvement.

Hi, Mike:

only problem is that this particular GB is intended for subject matter existing in 1939/40.  I've looked around the web, and it seems that the FW 190D series didn't enter production and service till 1944, so it would not be appropriate for this particular GB.

If this isn't so, I am willing to stand corrected.

Perhaps you have another kit from the requisite time period?  Currently these "World at War" GB's are opening on the 75th anniversary of each of the war years, so the planned "1944" edition won't get going till 2019.

I am sorry, but I really do need to keep the GB's focused on the specific year in question.

Nevertheless, you're off to a good start.

Hi Mike,

The"Pride of the Luftwaffe" GB is dedicated to the FW 190 and Bf 109. Your build would fit the bill there.

Good start!

That's one colorful bird, tj.  I've not seen that particular scheme before, and it looks spectacular.  Well done!

Good progress, Nick.  You've done very well with the decals; looks like they snuggled right down--not always an easy thing to accomplish.

I've notice the problem of nearly non-existant canopy frames on some of the older Airfix kits.  Haven't had to mask any yet, though.  It appears you're overcoming the challenge!
