Boeing Build

The wingroot fit of this model is totally bad due to incorrect dihedral angle.

I fixed it and must do dome final sanding before primer.

Yes they do.  LOL!  After this tube is gone, I think I'll switch to the triangular shaped Testors glue.  I need to update my items, I'm still living in the 70's.  OMG!  LOL!  allan, thank you for your support in my project, I really appreciate your visits as I look forward to them.

Do they still make that glue.  I still remember what they look like, Revell glue as well.  I remember the fumes too. LOL. Excellent progress you're making. You'll be finished in no time.

Yesterday afternoon I set the wings up with old school Testors glue in the toothpaste style tube.  Does anybody on the forum use this anymore?  The small joints and cracks and crevices were sealed with Tamiya Extra Thin Cement.  

As you can see, there's lots of clips and clothes pins holding the wings together as these wings are extremely thick and heavy.  The landing gear is enormous and is designed to hold up the B-17.  The set are some of the most heavy duty landing gears I've ever assembled.  

Almost next to none sanding was done as everything sealed accordingly.  All I had to do was lightly sand the edges of the wings and buff it out.  Later this evening, as it's too hot, I'll spray the wings and tail section.  I'll also spray everything down with clear coat as well. 

While the paint cures, I'll mask all windows and canopies and then spray silver then shoot a clear coat. I plan to have everything nice and shiny from the clear coat to stage the "Flying Fortress" as a showpiece.

Hi, I don't have any reaL progress pix to show, I just sprayed the entire inside of the fuselage and wingseat incl the cockpit glass black. The windows are so small nothing will be seen on the inside anyway, I wonder whay they didn't just mold it solid and go with decals for windows...

Excellent work fellas! Toshi-  My first foray into aircraft after 25 years (I am 34 now) about 3 years ago,  was the B-17G from Revell/Monogram, but it was not the "visible" model.... I was looking at yours, and I said "HEY!" MINE didnt have all that detail!" I had to go back through and read about the P.E.... I have not done any photoetched parts as of yet. Looks great!!! Watch those guns on the chin turret, mine didnt survive the move!  

I also have not done any airliners as of yet. EXCELLENT job B one fixer! AMAZING scratch building and grafting skills Lockon and Alan!!!  I really dig the Mash helicopter, I bet that thing is a chore in 1:35 greentracker 98!!!!! I'd love to build one in 1:48 if they make one!!!

Sorry to anyone I missed, so many great builds here! Cant wait to see that B-52 Done!!!

My phone didn't  down load the pictures when I saw it your build on email. Man that is some fine filling work on that pylon. That is going to be one sweet looking build.

Well how do you like that Toshi, I invite you to the group build and I go off AWOL. Another great looking build sir! By the time I get back into the game,  your going to be finished. I will have SOME internet service at work tomorrow (I can't wait for relaxing work after busting my hump these last 9 days in the move) so I should be more interactive.

As for me my big box of white plastic came in today. I will most likely be turning her into a United bird in the old grey and blue livery of the 90's since that is what the 777 was delivered in when launched with united.

It will be in the very bright colors of "Mango airline"

Man I feel so out of the loop here. The good news is we closed on our new home and are in the excruciating process of trying to find boxes and set everything back up, including my new hobby room. I have boxes scattered to kingdom come.

I've been watching on my phone when I had breaks, but I still have a lot of catching up to do. We don't have internet yet so the phone is all I have at the moment.

Some very nice builds going on here!! Just a quick late night update on my B-29 Superfortress, I have the cockpit mostly done, just need to repaint the bombardier's chair, and detail paint some stuff, apply decals of controls. Kind of odd, the kit is revell #5711, which I got for Xmas 2013, it shows "cream of the crop" on the box, and the optional build Is "humpin honey" (like that is somehow more p.c. Lol) but it clearly includes both the "little boy" and "fat man" atomic bombs, and extra fuel tanks. None of these parts are mentioned in the directions,  but I'm glad they're there!! I'm going to build this plane as the Enola Gay. If we have a source for Enola gay decals you can recommend, that would be great!!! First, a pic of Col. Paul tibbets' autograph, which I plan to frame and hang this plane nearby, bomb bay open, landing gear up as if about to drop the bomb. I also will display the "fat man" nearby... A couple bad pics of my workspace to follow!!! Thank you, Rudy

At 11:10pm, I'm on a roll.  This day was spent with Mrs. Toshi while we both enjoyed our breakfast together.  After breakfast, Mrs. Toshi goes to her iPad to do a digital puzzle while I work on my current project building the B-17G.  For a change, we went out for dinner had a great time and returned home to close out the rest of the evening.  Well, maybe for Mrs. Toshi but not for me!  LOL!

I finally completed the bombardier section as well as the cockpit, the mid-section was tended to as well.  I did a few dry test fits and at this time, I see no issues.  I still have the bombay and the tail section to complete.  Once that's done I'll methodically spray the B-17G in sections and put it together.  Thank you forum members for visiting my thread, it is greatly appreciated.
