Outstanding shjip Allan! I am amazed at the incredible work you've done on that. What a beautiful model!

Bish, thanks for the memories. I built this same model some decades ago. I'll be watching that close! Looking good so far!

LOL, well, just dson't expect to much. I find it hard to get into builds i don't have much interest in, and this is one of them. But i do have a few otehrs ships in the stash that will get plenty of TLC, i just need the room to put them when done.

I haven't been posting for awhile. Baby sister has stage3 *** cancer. She has been going to chemo for the past 3 weeks. So things as far as building has been non existing. But I got back on it the past week and a half. Take my mind of things. Connie has been taking most of my time. But I will get back on Wasp this evening and the next two days. By the way any of you want to get the ISW Wasp be very patient. This is model is not for people who have anger problems. I take medacation to get by!LOL!!!!!

Take a break from Connie.  ISW Wasp is not a easy resin build.

Working with resin can be tough enough, but from the looks of the Wasp it does look twice as difficult.

I recently picked up Revell's 1/720 USS Tarawa (LHA-1). Would that qualify for this build? I was thinking of building it in a 'what if' Mercy ship scheme, if it qualifies for this GB.

Hi ya! I'm still here and plugging away on this build. Just slow going for me with all this PE, doing a little bit here, a little there. Would hate to try this in 1/700th. Here's a few update pics.

The bottom of the port elevator as is.

This is the Eduard PE frame work for the bottom of the elevator. Just a few more pieces and it will be attached to the elevator.

If I done this kit OOB I would surely have been finished by now, here's how the kit parts would look like....

And here it is with the PE, still have some ways to go before it's compleated...

There's some side braces to put on but they're so tiny and hard to handle, I may leave them off.

Have another radar screen and a ladder to install then this piece can go on top the other assembly.

Some of the ladder work on the bow flight deck. The deck is not glued to the hull yet, still more PE to add first.

A little fuzzy here but gives you and ideal of the Island PE.

Believe once I get the flight deck installed then the rest should fall into place fairly quickly.

Wow, that is some incredible work Archangel! I would be a gibbering idiot in a straightjacket after doing all that! I commend you on your outstanding mastery of all that metal.

I just finished four ships now so I'll be able to get back to my Baku very soon. Stay tuned.

She's a real beauty! Can't wait to see the air wing.

I'm now trying to put together some 60 PE 20mm guns for the Triconderoga without any of them shooting off onto the carpet.

With my Do 24 done i have been concentrating on the Victorious. Not much to this kit and as i am not adding anything to it, its a pretty quick build. With most of the construction done, its time to get painting which was done in sections. I just used the Humbrol numbers and converted to tamiya. I don't know how accurate they are, but for me on this build, close enough will do.

And then those bits were all put together.

So all thyast left is the props and anchors and finish and add the aircraft and i can call it done.

Great subjects and nice progress so far, guys!  I'm enjoying lurking on this one.  I'm looking forward especially to the Yorktowns in the build and to Raider Hall's Wasp.  The "first team" carriers are my sentimental favorites.

For Yorktown, I had to fabricate some tubs for .50 cals off each side of the foreward catwalk.  It took a long time and a lot of failures to get some that I finally thought were usable.

Tamiya provides a number of gun tubs for 20mm's that weren't actually there.  Here are two of the catwalks where they have to go.

Finished alot of the painting for various pieces.

This little gem goes on the foredeck.

Added the structure to the foredeck and weighted it down while it dried.

Added the aft hanger deck walls.

allan:  great-looking ship!  Congratulations on an outstanding build.

archangel:  what a chore with all the PE!  You must have the patience of an archangel.

surfsup:  the flight deck markings are particularly good.  Very colorful!

Bish:  looks like you've made a very successful transition into the shipyard from planes and armour!  Looking good!

Thnaks guys, not exactly in my top 10 best builds. More like somthing i would have been happy with 20 years ago, but it will do. Even my Mrs was a bit disspointed it was not more detailed. i did have to explain that the kit dates from the late 50's.

But anyway, here is my first completed ship in a loing time. And at least i now know what sort of base i will use for future ship bulds. Just as with the ship, the aircrfat were paunted useing the Humbrol colour guide and then converted to tamiya, so i won't claim they are accurate.

And there you hav eit. Thanks for the chance to get this kit built. Some really nice work in here and i look forward to seeing some more.
