Halftrack GB 2016/17
Posted by Bish on Thursday, March 31, 2016 2:16 PM

Welcome to the Offical 2016/17 Halftrack GB. Its been several years coming, but its finally here. The build is open to any halfrack vehicle. Of course ther eis the usual selection of WW2 German and American military vehicles. But you could also opt for a none military build, a what if, some thing Sci-Fi or just some thing your imagination has made up.

Rules.

1) as long as its a vehilce that drives on both seperate wheels and tracks at the same time, its ok to build it here. Any scale, OOB or add as much extra as you like.

2) GB begins on 1st May 2016 and will run for 12 months.

3) No Crossovers please. But do consider a seperate WiP thread in the relevant sub forum.

4) As many progress pics as you can manage. And build one or build as many as you can manage.

5) Enjoy.

And for all the effort, you lucky people get to choose one of these badges that i spent literally minutes putting together. Please feel free to grab one and post in in your sig once you have completed a build.

I like to post them big so you can shrink them to your preffered size.

And there you have it. So, what you waiting for.

And thanks for taking par Hunter. And i might just be useing that 3rd badge as well Whistling. Apart from it being German, the vehicle in that image is the same one i am doing for my second build. I saw that colur image and a photo of the really vehicle in a book i got years ago and right then i decided to build it.

I agree Bish, I want the third one because it kinda will match my build and color scheme. I have spent the last few days researching the halftrack I'm going to build and it saw alot of action between 1943-45. I have deceided this....it will be a dio build

I also noticed that it matched your second build. I'm sure you have built a Tamiya kit before....I really enjoyed my first kit being a Tamiya. Get instructions, color call out at each step and how nice the kit fit and went together.

I would like to join in this one.  I may not be able to start right at May 1st as I have other GBs to finish first but I have a half track or two in the stash.  Please add me with a Tamyia 1/35 FAMO.

It's a shame Tamiya has yet to do an M3/M5 in their 1/48 line. I would be all over one (or two or three?) of those.

Well gentlemen I just received my kit in the mail today. I got the second kit for 40% off and could not pass it up. I am definitely ready for this GB to get underway.

Thanks Bish, I am looking forward to these two also. It's going to be my first "track" build and it couldn't have been a better subject to brake my teeth on.

Glad to have you on board Colonel. And thats not a problem, its much better to have a steady flow than a mad rush at the start just to die off.

Is that the 3 in 1 kit, i'll be sure to watch that one. I'll add you to the roster.

Yes it's the 3 in 1. I'm going to build it as the Pionierpanzerwagen, I plan to use it in a diorama later after it's finished.

Colonel, ajd, got you both added.

ajd, interesting looking subject, not heard of that company before. As for it towing, you might wnat to go for somthing smaller if you can find one. The 88 was to heavy to be towed by the Sd.Kfz 10, it only had a towing capacity of 1 ton. You could go for a 2 cm Flak, or a PaK 38.

Great to see you join. Is your title a reflection of being an alumni of Eastern Kentucky University(EKU)? Plus, looking forward to seeing your build...always been interested in that halftrack.

Great looking kit and it's great to see you here. Are you going to build it as a "stand alone" or in a dio setting?

No. I wish I could post a link that works, I'll have to pratice on it to get it right so I can post pictures again. You can look the KC's up. Back to the Kentucky Colonel business. My mother and father each was one and someone made my brother one then he made me. It comes from the Governor of Kentucky, there are thousands of us. I just use the name as a different screen name for different sites, something I can remember.

Darn that's a shame. Tamiya does make a Pak 36, but not as a stand alone kit, it comes in #32580. And I'm not sure if there are any Pak 38s made in 1/48.

For the time being, it will stand alone, although it eventually end up in a dip isn't out of the question.

I do have a dio in mind, a 1/48 Eastern Front airfield scene that consists of a couple of the new ICM I-153s, one of the UM refueler trucks, and a UM Gazz truck with the quad maxim guns standing watch. But who knows when I will get to that.

I've got a question.

Has anybody seen any pictures of the SdKfz 251/7 Susf D  "542" of theSS Pz Gren Divison Nordland that was in Berlin in 1945? I have been trying to find a picture for 3 months now but no luck.  I would like to build my model around that if possible

Colonel, i will have a look and see wat i can find. I take it this is one of the options in the Dragon kit. I do often wounder where they get the info from for kit details as 9 times out of 10 i find it hard if not impossable to find pics of any given subject.
