FSM New Years Resolution — Build More Models GB
Posted by Aaron Skinner on Thursday, December 8, 2016 12:06 PM

Hey all,

Here at the FineScale Modeler head office, we've resolved to build more models in 2017. To kick it off, the staff are all going to build a model in a month — and we want you to build along with us. The guidelines for this Group Build are simple. Pull a kit from your stash, start it on January 1, and finish it on or before January 31. It can be any subject or kit type, and you can build it any way you want to from out of the box to adding a ton of extra detail. If you are really adventurous, scratchbuild most or all of the model.

Signup is simple: Reply below and tell us what kit you'll be building and what modifications you plan on making.

To kick things off, here's the list from FSM:

Hey Aaron,

Brilliant idea!  Count me in!  I have been adding 1/48 Soviet and Japanese WWII aircraft to my stash, so I think it's about time I do one!  So put me down for a 1/48 Ark Models I-16 Type 24.  Staight from the box (I buy so many kits I can't afford aftermarket!  LOL!).

Thanks for hosting a cool GB!

Bobby

P.S. love the kits you guys are doing!

I'd like to sign up, just don't know with what.  Whatever it is, it will most likely be in the divine scale (1/72).

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Well, this would be a good way to thin the herd and have the excuss to buy more modelsBig Smile.  I have had an old MPC 1/72 scale TBD Devestator sitting wrapped in the box on the edge of my desk for months now, I guess its time to build it.  I can do this!

Aaron,

Are y'all planning on doing this for every month or just January?

Aaron,

I see your building the dreaded Spitfire, I'm surprised you aren’t going for an Airliner.

I thought about it, but the Mk.VIII fills a hole in my RAAF collection.

I have too many half-built models on my bench and little time to work on them...but what the heck. I have a Bandai 1/144 scale HGBF Dom R35 that needs building.

I guess that means I have until January to clear enough space on my bench to build something...

I will try to actually spend some time building and painting instead of just reading and watching videos.  Please put me down for Trumpeter SU-34 Strike Fighter 1:144.   I will do this.    Chris K.
