Ernest: Looks great! The 'pike nose' and new turret are very obvious here.

Dwayne: Great to hear the compressor is working out.

Hey Rob, good point on the East German armor.  I had not thought of that.

Ernest, the JS-3 is looking good.  The comparison with the JS-2 is interesting.  The 3 has much more sloping armor, and I must say, looks meaner.

Compressor is hooked up.  Had to fuss with some connections, but finally got to do a coat of Stynylrez on the rubber band tracks last night, and the compressor worked like a charm.  I got a Point Zero with a tank, under $100 delivered.  Starts up at 40 psi, and stops at 58 psi, so even if the pump is working, I don't lose pressure when spraying like my old compressor.  So far, worth every penny.  Big Smile

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Ooooh.....German Armor GB!?!  UK Armor GB!?!  Sign me up!!  I'm sure I have a kit or two in the stash that will suffice for either! Whistling

Dwayne, looking forward to the great work you'll do with that new compressor!!

So the assembly on the Tamiya JS-3 is practically done.  I just need to add the tow cables, periscopes and MG ammo box, which I may not do until some paint is on her:

Here's the JS-3 next to Tamiya's JS-2 that I built several years ago.  Nice to compare the two and see the evolution.

Now its time to switch to the Tamiya T-62 and get it to roughly the same stage as the JS-3!

Good point, I didn't even think about the East German hardware!

Rob, I really like the color on your car.  I think the black frame would look great.

Just returned from my local hobby shop. They were closed for a bit while the owner ran and got lunch, but when he got back I was able to get some Tamiya Deep Green and Semi Gloss Black to paint this kit.

Dwayne: Congrats on the new compressor. I'm sure you'll find something to paint. I'd suggest the dog or cat probably isn't a good idea. Though I have thought about painting my sister's little dog with glow-in-dark paint to see if we get anyone mistaking him for a Chupacabra.

Not sure if I've got anything for a German GB (yeah I'm probably the only armour guy on the forum with nothing Wehrmacht). Since this GB included Cold War hardware as well as the Second World War would something from the Cold War/modern Bundeswehr be kosher? I have had a hankering to build a Leopard II.

And I'm certainly down with a UK armour GB.

It also opens it up to Cold War Soviet armor; after the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification of Germany, Revell of Germany reissued several Dragon modern Soviet armor with Bundeswehr markings since they absorbed former DDR (NVA) military units.

Yup.  I wouldn't limit it to WWII.  Partly because my stash is all WWII, and I would like to see modern armor done.  At least I have a few months to come up with the GB badges.  Big Smile

Gamera, those tracks look good, although a bit tedious.

Just to throw it out there, when this GB is done in November, I am thinking of starting another GB for German Armor, and then maybe UK armor the year after.  This has been a great GB, and I think the above GB's would also be great.  What do you guys think?

Oh, I got home yesterday, and there was a package on my stoop.  The compressor arrived days ahead of schedule.  Hooked it up last night, and am really pleased.  Now what needs painting?  Stick out tongue

I see why you chose that color Rob, its nearly perfect!  Switching to the black frame and wheels would give it a really  authentic look!

That is my plan, although I may do that for my Tamiya one. I forced myself to build this kit because it was there and it isn't worth trying to sell.

Wow that is a bright green Rob.

Sorry, not much going on this front either. I've been poking along on a set of Spade Ace tracks for a 1/35th Type 95 Ha-Go...

Rob - now that's an interesting kit!  Don't think I've seen it before.  Gotta luv the HUGE AER MOLDOVA logo molded on!  Stick out tongue.  I like the paint job...is it supposed to look like one from a museum?

Some of the photos of the GAZ 67 are in a fairly bright green with a shiny finish, sometimes satin.

Getting caught up - there's some great stuff going on here!

Dutch - the SU-85 is really coming along!  The Friuls are awesome looking!  That is one cool looking tank destroyer!  I've known about that method of sanding wheels, but I never took the effort to try it even though I have everything to do it....maybe on my next build!

Griffin25 - the figures are looking good!  I wish I could paint them as good!

route62 - that is a great looking winter T-34!  Personally I think the chipped effect is just right.  A little weathering and it should all blend in and look fantastic!

Rob - now that's an interesting kit!  Don't think I've seen it before.  Gotta luv the HUGE AER MOLDOVA logo molded on!  Stick out tongue.  I like the paint job...is it supposed to look like one from a museum?

Wayne - I like how the braille scale armored cars each have a different paint job!  NICE!

DavBeav - I didn't know the ICM T-35 kit had any interior parts at all.  In any event you're doing a fine job with the inside workings!

The JS-3 is moving along, albeit slowly.  The hull is done except for the parts I'll install after painting like the spare tracks and tow cables.  Turret is assembled, but needs all the details added.  I'm not looking forward to removing 10 grab handles from the sprues, cleaning them up and installing them...Just have to soldier through it!!

Thanks Rob, some Eastern Express models I bought years ago pretty much cured me of those types of kits...

Looks cool Rob, that's one brand I've never heard of before.

I can't recommend it. Heck, if you buy the new Tamiya M4A3E8 at Hobby Lobby, it comes with the better 1970s Tamiya kit inside. I don't recall how much it was, but I don't think it was very much, maybe $5. Back in the early 2000s, I bought a number of Eastern European kits. The suffer from clunky details, thick, often brittle plastic, no locating pins, vague instructions, little to no marking instructions and parts are often mainly flat panels that require lots of fitting.

DasBeav, that engine looks really excellent.  I hope there is some way to see it when the kit is complete.

Wayne: Nice work there, love the camo.

DasBeav: The interior looks great. Mine didn't come with the seat or any details for the driver's compartment either.

...And the drivers compartment. I will be adding some "accessories" since it is rather bland.

Here is the engine of the T-35. I just brush painted it. Still debating how whether to have hatches open or shut. Did just a little wash, chip, and Tamiya "powders". Did not want to over do it...subtle I think is the word.

Those camo/paint jobs look really good. I didn't realize you were building 3 of them till now. I feel like a slacker! Great job.

The 232 is a typical OTS. the Ba-6s are PEGASUS gaming vehicles 8 pieces plus 12 tires each. i lost 2 tires but fortunately i had spares, literally. took longer to paint the tires than build the vehicles.

definitely do NOT like Vallejo surface primer. does not feather ewell. The BTR was enamel primer and i could feather it when trying to get the holes smooth.

Rob, that car is coming together nicely.

Wayne, the camo is looking great.

So I finally got my lazy butt down to the bench, and wouldn't you know it, the compressor started dying.

Just ordered another one, so hopefully I will be back in busness next week.

Steve great build as always.

Nick T-62 looks really good.

the BTR is primed and i am looking at a Ukrainian 3 color camo; mdeium gray. NATOish brown and black.

the 1/35 BA-10 is still there. a good paint job but trying to decide if i want to repaint the hull with a lighter green or just say screw it. given it was suppose to be for January oh well.

both little BA-6s are painted but i have to get some 1/72 decals at least the red stars. BTR was supoosed to be done for contest next week but i have a family emergency so that is unlikely. fortunately i have a DRAGON ZSU-23/4 done and been working on an OTS 232 for next week too.

Picture with some paint on it. I've seen photos of the GAZ with black frame and wheels, so I will probably change the color of the wheels to satin black.
