I'm interested, but, I wouldn't be able to start on a build for a while. I have three GB's I need to finish first.

I've recently finished one Airfix Phantom and could be tempted to do another. Though that would not be until next year.

There hasnt been one in some time now and think we are overdue.

Love old bent tail. have several in the stash.  Would join in but have too many GB's going right now.  Like Bish, wouldn't be till next year for me.

I have two sidelined Phantoms that I need to finish up.... If already started kits are eligible...

I have one or two in the stash and I dont think I have ever built one. I am into 3 group builds already but need a reason to crack into a Phantom once I get through those GB's. Count me in!

A Group Build.

A suggestion if i may. Its generally better to plan a GB for some point in the future rather than just popping one up out of the blue. A feeler like this is a good idea. I usually have a certain start date in kmind and will put the feeler out 3 or 4 months before that. If its a go, then the build thread will start a month before the actual start date of the Group Build. Most people who have hosted a few tend to go this way and it seems to work out better as its more organised rather than just off the cuff.

Well im thinking I might change it to Vietnam era fighters in general anyways, that way its a bit broader stroke instead of just F-4's.  Sorry im new to the group build thing, but atleast now the feeler is out there, maybe look for a tentative start date for May or so?

”Vietnam era” significantly widens the eligibility. Are we talking from the advisor era thru the fall of Saigon, 1961 or so until 1975? Or just the Gulf of Tonkin until the 1973 US withdrawal?  And also would this be just for aircraft involved in the war, or worldwide? That longer timespan also incorporates the Arab/Israeli June 1967, War of Attrition, and October 1973 wars, Cuban Missile Crisis, countless other crisis hotspots, and the ongoing wars in Africa and Cold War. 

Things you will need to consider also are “crossover” builds (those involved in other Group Builds on here), and allowing previously started builds as part of the GB- if allowed, how far along can they be?

No need to over complicate this, any and all aircraft used during Vietnam from 63' till 1975, doesnt matter if its already started or not, dont care how far along.  Ill just wait until im certain that ill have some people to do it and we'll set a date to start.

I’ve run a few GBs on here, and this sort of thing happens. Phantom II GB is pretty specific, Vietnam era aircraft is a bit ambiguous. No one really thinks of the F-14 or F-15 as Vietnam era aircraft, yet both served in that era. VF-1 and VF-2 actually flew F-14s as top cover for the Saigon evacuation off of USS Enterprise.

I had no idea that 14's saw the tail end of Vietnam, thats pretty cool!

I also have an F-105D "Thud" that I'd like to get into the GB, but I have some projects in the works right now. But I'll have a BOLO for this GB if and when it comes up again.

It's looking like it'll be towards the end of the year before we kick this off

I figure time frame plus direct involvement would be the qualification. So no Arab-Israeli Wars, no stuff in the European theater, but the F-14 should be allowed as they were involved.

TE, the era is very popular, so there ought to be a lot of interest. Even I have a bunch of related models in the stash. If you start next year, I’m in!  I wonder if Model Collect will have their 1/72 B-52D out by then?  If not, maybe we will see people build the Minicraft 1/144 kit.  There was a stack if them at last year’s IPMS National convention that sold out in 1-1/2 days.  Hey maybe someone will be brave enough to convert Roden’s 1/144 C-141B into a C-141A and make the original “Hanoi Taxi”.  That was postwar, but I would think it should be allowed.

For me, if Caracal does a Combat Lancer decal sheet, I’d be in with a Hobby Boss F-111A.

The 141's were there prior to playing taxi...I was delivered to Udorn in one from Clark in the Philippines in 73 and back to Clark in 74.

If it starts later in the year would be in with a RF4C (not started), or if it qualifies a Tamiya F4D that is about 50%.  Most GB hosts limit started kits to less than 20% or so.

I've got showtime 100 to build or a L19 bird dog both in 1/48 I'd like to do.  Got a scooter too.  Oooh, and the 1/35 OH-6 Loach.  I'm in.  Later is probably better as I just started the 1/350 Titanic...along with a few other kits on the bench.

Depending on your time frame for this group build, I might also be interested.  I built a T-28 trainer once when I was young and have been tempted to try doing another build of it now that I am older (and hopefully a little more experienced at buidling ).

Yeah, it would have to be end of the year for me, I'm into too many GB's right now!  Also, I know this has been mentioned, but does it have to be of aircraft that were actually in the Vietnam conflict, or just ones that were active during that time frame (e.g., Arab-Israeli war aircraft)?

Just recently completed a Mig killer  D Thud but have a G for Wild Weasel duty on deck so count me in.

So are you taking about anything that exsisted during the US conflict or just aircraft that participated in the war?
