Messerschmitt GB feeler
Posted by Bish on Thursday, August 27, 2020 6:51 AM

At the start of the year it was pointed out that we have not had an aircraft specific GB for a while, and these can be the most popular. One of the most popular subjects is the Bf 109.
After giving it some thought, i decided that rather doing a single type, i would open it up to anything
Messerschmitt.

So, i am asking if there is enough interest in a Messerschmitt GB. It would be open to subjects built by the BFW company from when Willy Messerschmitt joined it in 1929, any subject built by the Messerschmitt company during and after the war, including road vehicles including the bubble car. And then onto the mergers of the 1960's which formed MBB until that was bought out by DASA in 1989.

That not only covers the more well known Ww2 subjects, but also modern ones such as the Tornado, Eurofighter and more.

The 2 Wiki links below give a list of subjects that would be allowed, including the missile systems and what if subjects.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt-B%C3%B6lkow-Blohm

If there is enough interest, the GB will start on the 1st jan and run throughout 2021. The usual rules will apply, which i will put on the build thread.

And just looking at the MBB link, i have just realised they built the MILAN. Bonus.

LOL, I'm with you Greg!!

Sounds sounds like good one Bish, when does that one start?

Yes a ME GB sounds great, I'm in if it starts.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Alright then, how about this. As surpriseing as it may seem, Supermairne did in fact build more subjects than just the one i won't mention, and by the late 1920's were a part of the Vickers group, though aircraft continued to use the Supermarine name until the 1950's.

So how about i run a Supermarine GB alongside this one. I will work on the details and put a feeler up later.

I believe one can still find the SM S-5 or S-6. They also made the Walurs

Sounds good to me on both counts.  The only Messershcmitts I've done are the Monogram 109E and the Me321.

Vickers Supermarine is more better represented in my built collection.  You could call the English one the In My Eye GB, Martin!

Right, its sorted. I'll put the other feeler up at the weekend. But in short, it will cover Supermarine from its start, to its ownership by Vickers, until that company was merged in 1960 to form BAC.

I'm in.  I have a 109 and a 110 in the stash and have been looking for a reason to build another Bo 105.  And the capabililty to do an A320 as part of this group build is interesting :)

Thanks,

John

I'm sure there will be a staffle of 109's and while I have a few in the stash as well, I think I'll crack open the 410 for the GB.

I do love 109’s.  I usually just build for myself. Too much talent on this site. With a group build I’m hoping my addition will just blend in and I won’t feel too bad.
