Okay, according to the rules of the NMF GB, I'm not supposed to show this just yet, but since none of you guys here are part of that GB... Here's my 1/48 Academy F-86F "Mig Killer" done in Philippine Air Force Livery.

Depends.

I like the Paper Tiger decals, but there are a TON of aftermarket decals for this thing. ROKAF with a SE Asia paint scheme, some USAFE birds, the Skyblazers, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Portugal... hmmm, what to do, what to do... OK, how about you guys?

The only problem I had with the two engine supports (the green things) was that I had to shave about 1mm off of them to get the fuselage halves to fit. Still had a slight gap at the top. Also, the two parts that fit into the fuselage top (C9 and C? I forgot the other part) need a little bit of trimming to fit right. On the bottom fuselage... DON'T line up the bottom of the fuselage from front to back... Look at the part of the bottom of the wing, it is offset, it's not flash, trust me. The bottom part of the fuselage should have a slight (1-2 mm) offset from left to right. Dry fit them to make sure.

hey mate - I'm doing the same kit (photos to come soon)

yeah I noticed the locator pin error as well so I too removed them. I noticed that you've done the entire engine but have glued the engine supports to the fuselage half (the green bits cos I can't remember the name or part numbers). Anyway I couldn't insert the engine into these cos it wont fit. I didn't follow the instructions to the letter, so I removed one of these supports. Don't worry if you don't understand my disjointed talk, but you may experience it too.

Does anyone have pictures of a chrome yellow Canadair CL13 Mark 6 seen at the Cold Lake airshow Jul 04? If yes, I may join the group with the 1/48 Tamiya F86F

Thanks, Lawrence!

I started building my Revell F-86D and the instruction sheet is filled with complicated paint colors like Anthracite, mouse gray, tank gray, and patina green. I couldn't find a reference to match these Revell Colors to my good ol' Tamiya colors so yesterday i bought a few tins of Revell paint. I dipped my brush in Tamiya Thinner to get things started (as i always do), and went painting.

That was last night. This morning, the paint is still... sticky. it seems dry, but strangely sticky, like scotch tape. I'm rather upset, and have a good mind to strip the parts, chuck the paint in the rubbish bin and go at it again with Tamiya paint.

I should Have the cockpit and interior done by this sunday... Big Smile [:D] How are you guys doing?

Looks like you folks have a bona fide group build here, so I'm movin' you to the Group Builds forum.

The F-86 was a great aircraft; you'll have fun. Don't forget to post pics of your finished models!

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] I haven't touched my F-86D (still playing catch up with deadlines for an IPMS Group build)...I changed my sig, and included a bit of an F-86F i built for the NMF group build (can't show it until after the end date). Oh, and for people building the 1/48 Academy Sabre, watch out for the panel behind the wing on the bottom of the fuselage... I had tremendous fit problems here. Big Smile [:D]

Okay, guys, i created a photobucket accout for all those that want to post pictures of their stuff, but don't have a host yet. Just go to www.photobucket.com and enter the following:
username: fsmsabregb
password: f86sabre

the GB badge is already there (thankfully i saved a copy to my hard disk), and you can insert this into your signatures (minus the spaces, of course):
So, can we start using it? Oops. too late. Wink [;)] Big Smile [:D]
