HELICOPTERS - UH60 (Black)(Pave) Hawk (OPEN END)
Posted by DanCooper on Friday, July 2, 2004 9:40 AM

The only request we have is that you post pictures of your progress.Smile [:)]

Have fun....

If anybody has a good idea for a GB-Icon on this one, let us know

OK, it seems to me that we lost most of the interested people when moving from the "rotary wings" to "Groupbuilds", so I suggest one of two things ;

option 1 : let's drop this build and forget about it
option 2 what I would prefer : let's start al over with the starting date, I suggest that we actually start the GB on September 1.
That way new people get the chance to get into it.

Enjoy...

Now if I can just figure out how to post images on this forum... Dunce [D)]

Hey Trigger, how about your production block ?

(Never mind, it's stronger than myself, but if I hear or read, "don't ask me about...." then, the first thin I do is to ask about that....Smile [:)])

Now, to post pictures, your pictures have to be on the internet somewhere (your website, a gallery, a specialized website that hostes your pictures for free, anywhere....)
Than, you view the picture you want to post in your browser and rightclick on it, copy the url that you will find under properties.
You come to this forum, open a reply type something about the picture, then you push the "insert image"-button (the fourth from right) and paste the url between the tags that will appear when the button is pushed.
It is very important that there are no spaces between the url and the tags !!!

I hope this explanation is somewhat clear, because my English is far from perfect.

Dan

Heh, yeah, I walked right into that! She'll probably be a Blk 152, but there's a slim chance it could go to depot for Blk 160 upgrades before it's all said and done. I don't know yet but the differences are such that I've got a while before I have to make that call Big Smile [:D]

Those image instructions look like what I want to do (I didn't want to just throw up a url sending people all over the internet). Hopefully I'll finish up my website soon.

And your English sounds fine to me. It's a lot better than either my Dutch or French!

I would like to get into this if possible, using Academy's 1/48 MH-60G kit... Let me know if that's acceptable. Thanks!

PS I could also work on a GB Badge...

Hi ewc, as long as its a UH60, it's more than welcome, for this GB, neither the modelcompany nor the scale matters.

So I will be more than happy to welcome you.Big Smile [:D]

And about the badge ; that would be great, I have photoshop myself, but there is a hughe difference between having a program and being able to do something more than looking at pictures Wink [;)]

Looking good, ewc. I see that you've been involved in a Huey GB as well ?
I was building one too, well, technically I still am, since it isn't finished (yet) ; I had a little accident with something that dropped on it ; result :

busted rotorhead,

I'll have to get myself a new kit, just to replace those busted parts Sad [:(]

New dates?! So here I am again!
I hope to find the Censored [censored] photoetched kit I'm looking for, in the next month so I could join the GB.
In the meanwhile I'll finish the Hind and do a Huey!

They look good but I think we should stay away from the box art. What does everyone think about these pictures as the base photo in the GB Icon.

Well, there is still enough time to decide on the badge, I do however agree with adrake about staying away from boxart, on the other hand, and I hope I don't offend anyone, but I would like stay away from national symbols (of any country) too, so I'm sorry but I would rather not see that nice old lady with her lighter in the picture.

I guess a little nationalistic pride got to me. I actually like the bottom picture better, even though I'm building the Army MH-60L. I apologize If I offended anyone with my last post and if anyone wishes, I can remove it.

Well, Avus that looks like a fine Badge to me, it looks like we have already two possible badges being the first one from ewc, and this one.
By the end of the month we could do a vote maybe, since we are being democratic here. Big Smile [:D]

ps: Isn't that the same picture u used as adrake ?

ps2 : Did you find that PE set you were looking for ???

Ok let's vote on the badge, but have a look at my signature I might do some magic if I'm not satisfied with the result! Big Smile [:D]

Yes it is adrakes picture; I just edited it a bit.
No, I still didn't find that Censored [censored] PE kit. Almost all shpos are closing for vacation in august so I will try again in september. Otherwise I'll order it directly from Euduard's.
Actually I already started working on the Pavehawk some time ago. So when the GB starts I'll have I've some advantage on you guys and I'll have some time to search for the kit.

The voting about the badge shall be held between August 15 and August 25, till then everybody is welcome to sugest an idea for badges.

And people, don't be scared by the Dark Avus, as a Wiccan I can protect you all against his Black Magic Big Smile [:D]

I just hope we get a few more participants for the build though.

I have a seahawk laying around that I could use for this, but looking I don't see any guidelines or even a firm start date. Sounds like most of this is in another thread?

Actually this started in "Helicopters", and was supposed to start at July4th, however due to moving to this "Group Builds", we lost most of the people, interested.

This is why the date for starting to build is now set on September 1st, and ending in December.

So you are more than welcome with your Seahawk, the only request is that once the build has started, you regularily post pictures of your progress.

Enjoy...

Avus

Is everyone taking off the month of August for vacation there? Well then why the Censored [censored] couldn't the Mayflower have come from Italy!

Getting closer on those Pave Hawk decals (Did I ever send you a proof?) Were you able to resolve the MH-60L decal opacity situation?

Wow, trigger, it seems to me, that will have hell of time choosing the icon for this GB.
I wonder if we won't have to postpone the startindate again, after all, with all these 'candidates' for GB-icon, the jury might need a lot of time to decide Smile [:)]

Sorry guys wasn't home the whole week!

Trigger74
Actually it is no longer as bad as it used to be: a few years ago around the 15th of august Rome was a ghost city, many offices and companies closed for almost the whole month.
Now it's no longer as bad but you still have a hard time finding open shops!
Actually an italian discovered america, but then came august and no one wanted to go to work and so the pilgrim fathers got there first!Laugh [(-D]

Regarding the decals I still didn't work out a solution for the DAP ones. Maybe I'll really start looking for a used Alps printer!
HeavyArty suggested to put the stencils on a black background and then print the sheet on white decal paper. Currently I'm working on that.
This is a solution to the problem only if you are to paint your Blackhawk black.

How dare you make badges that look better than mine!!!
The second and the last look very good to me.

Yeah, that's my favorite icon too. It just looks nasty, dirty and mean - like a good Blackhawk should!

DUH - I totally forgot that Columbus was an Italian. Actually, I think that we might could use a more Italian approach to our jobs over here. Nothing wrong with the ol' Protestant work ethic, but c'mon - who on their death bed says as their final words, "Man, I realy wish I could have gotten some more work done."

BTW - I'm looking for info on the USAF's OIF desert camo some HH-60Gs carried if anyone out there knows about it.

And in Italy we could use some of the Pilgrims' spirit. As usual a half way between the two appoaches would be the best!
I've seen your post about the desert scheme. As far as I have seen the desert camo scheme was used in ODS and on some helos in OEF, but in Irak they are all either Euro 1 or Gunship Gray.

As I said I already have done some work on my Pavehawk but I can't show you pics because I borrowed the DigiCam to my father and he went on vacation with it!
(BTW same thing goes for the Hind and Huey GB).

I'm going to have to start early on my hawk since college starts up on the 23rd. I definitely won't have a lot of time to work on it once that happens. Anyway, I've settled on modeling a MH-60A Velcro Hawk based on the Academy MH-60L kit for this group build. However, I can't decide on whether to do a Direct Action Penetrator or a Prime Chance hawk that was painted grey to blend in with the Navy Seahawks. Any thoughts on this are appreciated.
Oh, I almost forgot, thanks Avus for the decals you sent me awhile back.
