Aaron -

Good call on the MH-60A Velcro Hawk. Everyone does DAPs, Paves, Kilos, Seahawks or basic Blackhawks (and I'm just as guilty too). That one kinda ended up the forgotten child of the Blackhawk family. It's going to look cool in the Prime Chance color scheme!

With school and my modeling addiction, habit, humm hobby, I really don't have much (any?) of a social life. Disapprove [V] I also don't have much of a budget, so any extra details are going to have to be scratchbuilt.Confused [%-)]

Don't worry, with one wife and two kids, I'm kind of on a tight budget as well. Besides, scratchbuilding is the real kind of modeling. Smile [:)]

I'm in with Academy's 1/35 Pavehawk. I'll use Eduard's PE Kit for the interior extrior and ammo chutes (when I will find them) and do some conversion for Block 152 upgrades.

I already have started working on the interior, and have detailed the miniguns. I'll post some pics in the next days.

Hello everyone!
Do you guys mind if I join the GB as well? I have a Minicraft 1/48 Blackhawk in my stash that I will use for the build.

Stir not the bitterness in the cup I have mixed for myself!

Dan I'm in Kung-Fu; last year I was "promoted" to instructor, i.e. a guy who helps the master teaching. (So don't you call me a cheater again!! Angry [:(!]Big Smile [:D])
I started building the kit this winter and then abbandoned it because of work and the Hind GB. So this GB was like a kick in my a.. to get started again.

Hi balta1 ! Good to hear from you again! Seems we are fellow builders in this and in the Huey GB.

Avus,
Good to hear from you as well! I hope all is well with you. I have been in a slump but now I'm back! It's cool that we're both in the two GB's. I will start this weekend with both of my birds! Once I have pics I'll post them. BTW, what color did you use for the interior on the huey?
Cheers

Dan

I'm guessing from your signature that we're using the "blue" background badge you've attached to your signature?

Hey it's not fair: first you post those crappy little badges and then you use that superduper-extra-deluxe one! Boohoo [BH]

Now seriously: I think we should vote on one and all use that one, only to avoid confusion on our fellow forum members.

"Crappy little badges" ?!?! Heyyyy! Big Smile [:D] ("Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!")

I originally thought there might have been some sort of size limitation on badges, but in snooping around the topics here, I see signature pix of all different sizes. I was a little bored sunday afternoon and I got to thinking (which is never a good thing) - why should GB badges be little squares? Why not "widescreen"? Why not circles? Etc...

My 2 cents [2c] - So what I'm thinking of is this - a template driven GB icon. Each member would have access to the layered file to customize their own. They would place an image of their particular type of Hawk (UH-, SH-, MH-, etc) in the center band. The top band (there would be different templates posted with the each of the various S-70 designations such as UH-60L, MH-60A, MH-60L, etc already in the top bar to get around font issues), bottom band, overall size, colors and typeface would remain the same. This way, everyone here would be able to have their own little input to the badge, be able to make it their own, if even a little bit while at the same time, keeping the overall S-70 GB branding consistant. It wouldn't take long for someone to customize their badge and post it and if someone out there doesn't have a photo editing program, they can just send me the pic they want to use and I can finish it for them. Other GBs may follow with larger badges, but that just it - they'll be following! Evil [}:)]

Sounds like a brilliant idea, however, we have to think about the people that still use a classic modem instead of broadband.
And besides, we start building in two days remember.
Anyway I do like your idea Smile [:)]

A modular group badge!
Sounds good to me, but maybe there are also persons who don't have the skills to make themselves a badge.
We could put Trigger74's idea to the votes; It definitively has mine!

Well, if the modular badge wins the vote, then "my" contribution would be the "blue" one that trigger made, if not, then blue one gets my vote.

Offcourse if another badge wins I'll be able to locate you all, and get in my personal Apache to get my revenge Big Smile [:D]

Last bit of campaigning here then I'll shut up - I'm not too worried if someone doesn't have the software or knowledge to create their own. I can kick out a whole set to represent just about every member of the Hawk family and post them tonight.

"S-70/H-60" (using the Blue one as the image)
UH-60A/L (using the Blue one as the image)
UH-60Q "Dustoff"
MH-60A "Velcro Hawk"
MH-60L DAP
MH-60K "Kilo"
MH-/HH-60G "Pave Hawk"
HH-60J "Jayhawk"
SH-60B "Seahawk"
SH-60F "Seahawk"
SH-60J "Seahawk"
HH-60H "Seahawk"
VH-60 "Whitehawk"
MH-60S (Is anyone even building one of these?)
(Did I leave anyone out?)

If someone doesn't have an image or can't get one to me in time, I already have or can get pix of all the above. I usually have to crank out a lot more at work, so getting these done tonight won't be a big deal.

Dan, good question about modem use - the JPEG I have up right now is in the 35K neighborhood. That size can vary depending on the JPEG compression and the photograph used in the image.

Trigger, Bow [bow]
I love the idea. I'd like a badge for the MH-60A that I'm building, but not only do I not have photo-editing software, but I don't even have a functional computer. A speaker landed on my laptop and crushed the screen Boohoo [BH], so I'd be very grateful if you could hook me up with one of them widescreen badges.
Once I get my computer back (not sure how when yet) I'll post some pics. Anyone know of a good yet low-cost digital camera?

- That's the only pic of a Grayhawk I have. If you have a better shot, kick it over to me and I'll update this.

- Better Velcro hawk, but the wrong color

the rest of the icons are up at: http://homepage.mac.com/grant_little/PhotoAlbum5.html

Hey Dan,

I know the GB starts tomorrow, but is it too late to join? I have a 1/48th scale Blackhawk I would like to contribute. It would be an Israeli UH-60L Yanshuf 3 using parts from the Italeri MH-60G and RoG MH-60L. Markings are from Isradecal. Please LMK.

Thanks,
Albert Clown [:o)]

Wow! Trigger74 that's a hell of a work! Well done!
I'll use your template for the MH-60G changing only the pic.

Thanks Avus. D'OH! Banged Head [banghead] That's right, you're building a 301st bird and I know the photograph you're basing it off of too! I totally should have done a Pave Hawk badge with that image! The original file for these is a layered Photoshop 10 .psd. I can e-mail that to you if it's easier for you to modify. I had no idea there were going to be so many Pave Hawks! Do I need to post some more Pave badges?

Adrake - Buddy, I know you'd probably love to have a Grayhawk up there and I'd like for you to. That grainy image is all I could find online. Disapprove [V] If you know where a better shot can be found, let me know (I ordered a copy of the SEAL book from Amazon, but it's not scheduled to ship until later this week - are there Grayhawk pix in that?)

And Albymoore, if you'd rather use a different Yanshuf pic than what I've got now you can e-mail the image (or a link to it) you'd prefer. Welcome to the build. Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

And that goes for everyone else - if you've got a pic you'd rather have on yours, just let me know!
