heehee, big Daniel, the start date is Jan 15 2005!!! For that screwup you must forefit your entire collection of unbuilt kits to everyone else! Kidding!!! I am eager as well so I am actually thinking about moving it up to January 1st. What do you guys think?

Mate, I'll split my kit collection between you all. Problem is, the only kit in my collection is an Academy 1/400 Titanic. It's a big kit so it will split up fairly well. Just send me out your postage details and I'll send you all a sprue each.Smile [:)]Smile [:)] I can't build that at the moment, so I had nothing else to build except my Tomcat.Boohoo [BH]

I thought the start date was Jan.1 anyway. That's why I started it, I thought I was only a few weeks early. Doesn't matter, I'll chuck the cat back in the box and go and spend some of my weekly pittance on another kit so I've got something to build. It's a good excuse to but another kit anyway.Wink [;)]

Did you paste it between the tags without any spaces? There can't be any spaces between the "g" and brackets nor between the brackets and the URL. Otherwise you will get those pesky red Xs. Also, did you paste it onto the "Signature- Text and Graphics" line?

P.S. Thanks for the info bstrump! I forgot that I had a modern reference book on the Tomcat that I ordered from a company IPMS33206 recommended. It's still in the box as a matter of fact.

Can you tell me what book it is and where you got it? I wouldn't mind getting a copy of it myself. My last book on the Tomcat dates from the early nineties.

That book is from Air Time Publishing. www.airtimepublishing.com they have the best reference books available on the market today. I have several of their titles and I use them constantly. I think they may even have a sale going on now.

Thanks ipms33206. I went to the site but it looks like the book may be out of stock as I didn't see it listed. I assume you were refering to the book AirTime published on the F-14 a few years ago. I wish I would have bought it when I had the chance. The only one I saw on the AirTime site today is "Warplanes of the Fleet" which may be almost as good.

bstrump the one I got is titled "The Grumman F-14 Tomcat: A Naval Aviation Legend". The book has great photos and several color listings including the F.S. #'s for folks who happen to be doing a GB. The ejection seat photos are great and I'll be using them for the resin ones I picked up. Anyways- I'm all for a Jan 1. start date- Is this ok?

Yes that book was released several years ago. I snagged one the minute they were on the shelves. The Warplanes of the Fleet would most likely have a big section on the F-14. You may also be able to get the In Detail and Scale books too. My kits are ready to get moving. Lets slap some plastic together!!!!Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Tongue [:P]

I'm all for Jan 1 as I have to finish the Super Hornet for the Nav Av GB that I have kept pushing back. I've got so much going on for Christmas that I won't get to sit down until about January 1 anyways. If you guys are ready to launch by all means rock n'roll!!! I'll catch up- no worries about that!

In a word reggie...YES! Go ahead and have a blast-I'll start on the 1st and catch up since I have a whole couple of days to tackle it- A WHOLE 48 Hours!!!! That'll mean the cockpit and seats will be done and certainly finish the Nav Av GB. Maybe the M-1A1 and possibly tackle the Tamiya P-47 Bubbletop that I am also dying to work on. Likely, I'll just get the cockpit on the Cat sone and sit down with a Guiness and look forward to a great build. Yall have a great Christmas!!!

Not long now lads. I got some money for christmas so I might be able to invest in that resin cockpit set after all. I'll have a few builds going at the same time next month (I'm doing a Honda RC211V for another group build as well], so progress might be a bit slow. Still got to find some AM decals for my cat, but I won't need them til later in the build, so I can wait for them.

I just got a Hasegawa 1/48 F-14A, from St. eBay. I'm new here, but I be counted in? I'll start doing the rear fuselage, wings, gear bays, etc. It may be a few weeks before I can afford an Aires cockpit set. Sound OK?

Like I said, I'm new here. Are there any rules or procedures to doing group builds? I also don't know how to post photos.

HELLLLLLP!

Good to have you aboard mate. armorman will give you the official welcome but I'll say it anyway. There isn't too many rules for this one, just start on January 1 and finish it anytime you want. There is a full list of rules somewhere on the first page of this topic.

I might do what you are thinking of doing too. It might be a while before my local hobby shop can order in a resin replacement for me, So I'll start assembling other bits.

There is a thread on posting photos here:

How to post photos

It should tell you everything you need to know.

Once again, welcome aboard and looking forward to seeing your build.

Lookin good everybody- the day approaches fast! Christmas was fantastic- I received the Tamiya 1/32 F-16 from the folks(score!) and I have gotta say that this detail is simply amazing! The box is a work of art in itself. I'll definitely save this one for the summer. Anyways, MACooke, welcome aboard! The build 'officially' starts Jan 1 2005 but I have everything but the resin primer I need to paint the seats!!! I thought I bought some but I cannot find it. Other than that I am ready to rock n roll. I hope everyone had a great Christmas!!!!

I am ready too! I didn't get anything plastic related. But that is OK. I did get a couple of great books for reference. One of them is the history of US Naval Avaition. I am almost done with the F-86E. Alclad will be applied possibly tonight.

Welcome Daniel,

Posting pics is easy,

1 put them on the internet (you can get a free account at photobucket.com
2 make sure you select the IMG-option in your account
3 after uploading the pics you will see a line in the IMG-box, copy that line,
4 come back here and paste that line in your reply and after submitting (or in preview) you will see your pic.

That's all there is to it Smile [:)]
