Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

The Clock is ticking ever louder...Only HOURS to the start...hope all are decided on the subject and look forward to progress pics as well as the finished product...Remember it is not too late to get in on this...This will probably be the last update in this thread look for the Progress and Completed thread to be posted in conjunction with the start time...

June 1 to October 1 2005

Criteria:

Out of the box. Following IPMS guidelines. Aftermarket decals and seatbelts are ok. If the kit included resin or PE then it was in the box when purchased so it is OOTB. Subject is aircraft, military, civil or experimental. Aircraft developed or in use from 1940 to 1949. All scales. Jets and props.

The following aircaft are spoken for but there is always room for more...
Since this is a very broad subject when you post your work it would be appreciated to include some sort of synopsis on any research done on the aircraft...

I'll repost regarding the badge from the previous thread...

Here's the url of the gif file...

You can get the same info if you right click on the image and then click properties. Or you may want to right click on the image and save it onto your own server so you can resize it, etc..

I stil have to decide on a plane, maybe an TBM Avenger 1/48?

I am so in. I will be doing a Hasegawa 1/72nd scale Beaufighter Mk. 21 in R.A.A.F. markings that I got for Xmas. I'm actually going to use the decals OOTB too. I don't think I've done that since high school!

I'm game. I'll build Sword's 1/48 GM FM-2 Wildcat. I'll be using aftermarket decals from Techmod Decals (sheet 48050).

In other words, I'm building this...

...but it'll look like "Black 4" in the middle in this pic....

You can put me down for Monograms 1/48 A6M also. This will give me a reason not to have to mess with the interior!!

Count me in! I don't know with what, yet but I should be able to swing something. Do motorcycles count? I haven't built one since I put together Revell's(?) "Here Comes Bronson" Harley! I got a couple from here in Asia for cheap, both Tamiya kits.

Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking! Dunce [D)] 40-49 'eh? I got plenty!Big Smile [:D]
How 'bout Tamiya's 1/48 P-51 Mustang "8th Air Force"?Big Smile [:D] Shouldn't be too difficult even for someone w/ 10 thumbs like me! Tongue [:P]

Count me in. 1/144 DC-3 Eastern Airlines scheme. I think the kit is a Dragon, can't swear to it and can't check it, since I'm at work!!! Whistling [:-^]

Think I'l finally breakdown and try several different shades of metalizer for the finish.[:0]

I could build Minicraft's Grumman XF5F-1 "Shortnose" Skyrocket for this Group build too. It's next in line on the build list after the Sword FM-2 Wildcat. Hopefully I can get mine to look as nice as this one.

Should be able to get it done before October. This one will be straight OOB. Put me down for two planes. The Wildcat and the Skyrocket.

Had to post in here to let everyone know I'm still game for this build. My plans are to complete a Hasegawa 1/72 Me 262 A-1a. Still haven't decided on the camo scheme, probably a splinter-type. This will be my first "real" build of a WWII subject. I'll also post progress pics as this GB starts up.

Hello,
I have not done a group build yet, but I see them all over the forum. How does one go about getting in on one, like this one for example. I have a couple of aircraft that foot the bill, and all the badges look real sweet on everyones sig.
Thanks in Advance

The best way to get in is to say you are in and toss out the kit you are planning on...

I am changing mine...going to the Bell X-1 in stead of the Yak.

Count me in on this one, gives me an excuse to build a kit without buying more after market stuff than the actual price of the kit. Tongue [:P]

Not like thats a bad thing mind you. Big Smile [:D]

I'll have to see what is in the old stash and let you know what I plan on building.

Cheers

Since the IPMS rules are going to be essential in this build, can someone post a link at the beginning of this thread so everyone knows the rules?

EDIT: Would this be it?

Oh dear, here we go again. At least I have kits on hand to choose from and don't have to go buy more like I have to for the other group builds I've signed up for. I will do a Hasegawa 1/72 B-17F. Its been on my shelf for years and a group build may be just the ticket I need to get it done. Thanks!

Unlike Joe I got Intahrnet where I'm at on the road here in Minneapolis! Much easier weekly commute from Chicago than my last assignment in Los Angeles.
Thought I'd break the seal, pop the chery, <insert cliche here>, and post an update of my Sword FM-2 Wildcat build.
Here are a couple pics of the fuselage halves, before I smashem together.

...and here's the greased up engine screeeeaaaaaming for AM accessories. Alas I must abstain.

Ah, did we start this build? I thought the start was set for June? I shouldn't start any other kits until I get a few that are already on my bench cleared... Sad [:(]
