Oops. I didn't see the start date was changed to June 1. Thought it was Feb. 1.

Oh well... Guess I'll stop on the FM-2 for a while.

This GB just keeps growing. Hope I'm around to start it when it's go-time. Hey, if I'm gone for training at the beginning of the build, can I add that time I was gone to the end of the build? Wink [;)] Honestly, I hope to be back shortly after the beginning of the build, and the Me262 shouldn't take long to make.

OK Joe, you can mine to the list. I'll do the new 1/32 scale Hasegawa Nakajima Ki84 Type 4 Hayate ( " Frank " ). I usually build only 1/48, but thought I would try a 1/32 build for a change.

Hey Joe, think you could copy and paste the participant list into your first post? Kind of hard to find on the bottom of page two. Also, people looking in might not think there are very many people signed up! My 2 cents [2c]

Thats really funny, cause I have the same problem. I'm down to either AM 1/48 Yak-1 or 1/48 IL-2. I figure these kits are detailed enough that I can resist the urge to add something.

Hey Joe,

Since I jump started my Sword FM-2 Wildcat I decided to go ahead and finish it. Something about an unfinished model just sitting there on the workbench... Gotta finish it.

Instead of that plane I will just build Minicraft's XF5F-1 "Shortnose" Skyrocket for this group build OOTB. Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm in as well! I will either do my P-47 Razorback or the Me 262 from Tamiya. These group builds are a great way to learn and share techniques as well as meet some fine people! Looking forward to June 1st!

Cool glad to have you, great to see the growth of the Group. There was a post on the Airplane Forum about too many Group Builds, to a degree I concur, however...Would any of you be interested in one (or both) of the following for later in the year, either Air Racers or First Jets?

Could you be a little more specific about what you mean by first jets? Do you mean like the Gloster Meteor, Me 262 etc or do you mean the first prototypes like the Gloster Pioneer etc. Or do you mean something different altogether?

Hey Razor,

First Jets would be the Gloster Pioneer, Bell Aircomet or Heinkel jets. The Messerschmit may be overdone, but if some one was to do a conversion to the taildragger that would be cool. The Japanese Kikka would be a good one as well. However, since this is the "talking" stage what would you suggest? If anyone esle wants to jump in on the planning or conversation please feel free.

I would be more interested in a build including any jet up to the end of WWII but that is just one man's opinion. BTW I saw an article not too long ago on the Italian jets. I'll have to see if I can dig it up.

I would be interested if we could include jets up to the Korean War era. that way we would see a good variety of participants.

Agreed, however, alot of these types are already well represented. My original thought were the groundbreakers. Now, the first of a type or the prototype, i.e. F86 or P80 would be cool. The MiG's and more specifically the Yaks would be good 'uns as well...

Exactly! You could also do say, a T-33 or something along those lines. You could even include those models that served in foreign airforces up to a later timepoint so people would have a wider choice of markings, etc. I think you would get a diverse selection of entries and it would be a fun build. I would be interested in something like that.

Good idea...this could get some momentum, which would be cool. However, I think the early jets are way under represented. How could one incorporate the early jets and get the idea you are conveying? Would it be better to do the First & Last? Say one would do the ME 262 (first operational fighter) and some one else do the last ME 262 in any service...or the P80 prototype and a Mexican Airforce T-33 (I think they were the last to operate this type, totally unfounded so check me on thisBlack Eye [B)] )

For something different say this as the basis of the build...I would do the F86 prototype and you would do the last serving Sabre, CAC or whatever the case may be. Our Submissions would be made at the same time. A sort of look how far the type has gone sort of thing...in fact it could be opened to all jet types, that would really broaden the scope of the submissions. In reading all of the othe GB posts and those in the Airplane section it seems there alot of folks who have gotten to "know" each other. More for thought, a rookie teamed with a more experienced builder...This is of course all stream on conscieneous stuff...Tongue [:P]

One other thing, since I started this GB then I guess I am the moderator, if we continue this conversation it should be under it's own thread or header or whatever the techno lingo is...

Joe,

I think it should be open to whatever someone wants to build, as long as it fits the era you are talking about. If I was doing a T-33 and someone wanted to do the f-80 that would be cool, but not mandatory. I think you would get more people participating this way. I agree that you should be the moderator since this was originally your idea, I was just throwing in my 2 cents. :-) Since we are off topic here you may wish to contact me off list at my private e-mail address, (just check my profile). Anyways, I'd be happy to continue this conversation there as to not detract from the current group build.

OK, now that we have a separate thread going for first jets (Thanks Joe!) we can all get back to the current subject at hand OOTB -1941-1949. Of course you could also fit a first jet into this build if you can't wait for the official "First Jets" build. BTW Joe I think that is a good name for it, but it's your idea so go with whatever you like. I will probably do my P-47 for this build, but may not go with the standard decals that Tamiya supplies. I may have to se what other cool versions I can do......:-)
