Anyone still around?  How's everyone doing?  Or has this thing died?

Finished!

Well, almost. As is painfully obvious in the following photos the clear coat gave me some orange peel. As soon as I get a hold of some polishing compound I'll take care of it.

Anyway, I present my 1971 HemiCuda convertible. First car model I've done since I was very young. Interesting experience and enjoyable. Decent kit from Revell overall, although one very obvious fit problem I haven't solved yet is the hood. The engine is exactly where it should be but the ram air intake sat too far back on the carburetors. I modified it to shift forward which helped the hood come down some, but I'm afraid the AM spark plug wiring is now keeping the hood from sitting flush as it's interfering with the intake. Angry [:(!]Banged Head [banghead] I really didn't see that one coming when I was wiring the engine. I'll stare at it for awhile to see if I come up with anything.

Ah well, sometimes you're the bug, sometimes you're the windshield. Feel free to comment.

Looks good Dorian, although the pictures are a little too blurry to tell much.

Kevin, hang in there with your mother-in-law. Get back into the build when you have the chance. No rush.

Progress report: I'm in the home stretch. Decals are on and clear coat has been shot. Now to let that cure and then assemble the body, interior and frame together.

Tigertankman, that should answer your question. PakNick a little absent from his own groupbuild, but I doubt he or any of us would mind if you jumped in.

Every day I'm a little closer...

Body now has first wet coat applied and it looks great. Second and final wet coat will go on after several days curing time. Interior is completely assembled and waiting for a flat coat to dull the shinyness down somewhat.

I can feel it, the end is coming!

Progress: First & second mist coat applied to body, waiting for it to cure before applying first wet coat. Interior is mostly assembled, applying the rotten simulated wood decals to the required spots. Seriously, these decals should be outlawed. Utter crap.

Engine is wired, too. First time I've done that, and it shows.

Given the cure time I think I need with these enamels, I should have this Cuda done in two weeks Thumbs Up [tup].

double D,
You have to cut the top off the boudy, then slice the top into 4 pieces, cutting across the top, then longways across it. then I glue the 4 pieces to the boudy, back the gaps with styrene, then fill. To hide the styrene I make a headliner for the inside.

hope I explaned this so you can understand( it can get kinda confusing).

inpw1-
how about those vertical beams (for lack of a better word) since its basically a trapezoid, if i cut a piece out of it the top is gonna be smaller than the bottom, and ill have an uneven fit, how did u overcome this? THX

progress: i found out i lost one of the tires, so i replaced two with one of the big tires for drag racing in the back, then i painted the interior a gloss black with white accents, looks awesome!!

Double D, I have chopped the top on both the trucks that I did, and is all I used for the glass was the clear acetate from a barbie box.For the flat glass, its easy enough to cut to size and attach. The front and curved glass is a little more dificult, it requires alot of cutting fitting and trimming. Since the box has a natural curve to it, it doesnt take much persuasion to get it to conform to the proper shape, but it does require a little persuasion.

FINALLY after a day of working i managed to strip all the paint off the body, now only thing to do with the body is to sand all the scratchs off, and paint
i thinkin of wheter or not to drop the top, the thing is, if i take a strip of the top, the window panes wont fit together, leaving me with a dilema... any insights?
