Auto GB:Muscle cars and Hot rods
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 1:39 AM
So why not start a GB around muscle cars and Hotrods? Both are pretty cool so...lets start a GB!First the rules:

1.Has to be a muscle car or hotrod(usually cars from the 70s 60s 50s 40s 30s)
2.Any part is okay
3.ootb is okay
4.any scale
5.Have fun

Any other questions,just ask me

I'm in! I've got a '36 Ford 3-window, a '27 T-bucket, and a '25 T coupe. I should actually be able to finish those at some point..... Later.

Would you like me to put you down for all 3 of those kits?

No, scratch the '25 T. Its suffered some major setbacks and it probably won't get done.....ever. But the '36 and '27 are in. Later.

Hmm, I may be in this, depending on time factors. I know I have a kit or two at home that would qualify.

The best time frame is about 4 to 6 months for a good build. That should give all a good time frame for the slow builders( not tring to make fun of anyone). The last GB I was in I was able to build 6 out of 8 kits that I had. My wife has just started a 1957 Chevy Street Rod (SKILL LEVEL 5) for her first ever build to take to her Father for a late fathers day or birthday gift in July. She is not far along in this build so if the start date is in the next few days then if you would count her in.

If you give a 4-6 month time frame for the build, you could start it tomorrow and I'd be fine.

I'd say till maybe December. That gives the slow and easily distracted(raises hand) builders time to keep up.

i might be in....im hesitant because of the immense amount of work id need to do to restore my kit. i might be fixing up my 1957 chevy bel air.
im a hotrod junkie, i absolutely love hot rods, and want to build cars for a living (i hope) and im afraid ill go too far, chopping the top, channeling the body, and all that....
my kit is 30% done but i have to redo it because it looks really bad right now: body mostly, i painted it (with a brush!!) blue with silver mixed in, but the finnish has bumps in it, and little hairs, uneven so:
How can i strip the paint (acrylic) without damaging the body??

Double D you can go to Wal-Mart or any auto parts store and pick up some Castrol Super Clean the one in a Purple bottle. That stuff works great if you use it stright. Let it soak over night and then rinse it with worm water and let dry for a few hours. Might have to do it a couple of times but most likely one time will do.

I've used Easy-Off Oven Cleaner with good results as well. It'll make your head buzz, though. Adequate ventilation, now there's an idea. Big Smile [:D]

Let me talk to her she is not home right now. She is out of town. I will ask her if she wants me to set up an account for her. So for now stand by.

You can put me down for two builds: a 1970 Dodge Charger and a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454. That will take my to do pile down from 170 kits to 168 to get started on.

Thanks for the time to build.
