well i would try the FAZZ legs but i just don't have the money right now to buy it plus i am trying to incorporate the Zeta into the design, since it is one of my most favorite gundams.
oh to the one building the EZ8 i have the RX-79G and i have a friend that has the EZ8, we did compare models and we found the regular RX-79G was actually a better designed kit (even though they are almost identical), but also if you look at frankengundams the entire RX-79G series is a franken gundam series since they where designed out of Spare parts from the experimental RX series. hense why in actuallity, each RX-79G is a custom unit. i did always find that to be very interesting. it was made from spare parts and it ended up being the best land based action gundam of all time(in my opinion anyways). but thanks anyways for the suggestions. oh if anyone has any questions about virtually any of the high grade or master grade gundams i am familiar with a number of them and am willing to lend any knowledge that i have about them. feel free to ask.

What mobile suits is the Ez8Eight Ball [8] made from?

When I rented the series they didn't have the first disk from the seris in stock. I'll have to re-watch it when they do.

well i tried the gp01 and gp02 legs on but there were a few probs with that. the gp02 sockets were way to big and gp01s' were to small so there was no such luck.

clumsymodeler:
my photobucket is at http://photobucket.com/albums/y40/mustangs102/
and a forwarning to you in doing the repaint. when you do this it will become extremely back heavy and want to fall backwards cause the knee joints don't like to hold any weight what so ever so you might want to find something to streingthen that. the only thing i have found so far which ends up only being temporary is either a thick dark blue enamel paint or rubber cement or the rubbery glue form bicycle tire repair kits.

@mustangs102 - if you want the badge to appear in your signature, you're going to need both lines in your "text & graphics" signature in your profile:

[url="http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=50880"*] [img*]http://gundam.loudscroll.com/badge1.jpg[/img*][/url*]

Remove all * to make it work. You may also want to toss your photobucket link under there as well. That we we can find it every time you post.

As for the Wing Zero Custom - are you saying that the weight of paint alone is enough to overwhelm the knee joints? Perhaps there's a way to use lighter paint (not enamel based-- I believe it's slightly heavier) and/or thinner coats?

well they never say as to what suits make up the EZ8 or the RX-79G but all we know from the tech manuals bandai released is that the suites are just made from spare parts from the experimental RX series that never made it into production, and or failed misserably.

though when it actuallity comes to the wing zero customs' knee joints no it is not just because of the paint they are just weak in nature. it's just that paint doesn't help it any no matter how light. it really is a matter of how much they have in the back of the suite(ie. wings), it is just to back heavy, kind of like my suite.

EZ8 was an field upgrade from the basic RX-79[G]. Only 12 RX-79[G] were assigned to the battle groups in the anime. And since they were already produced from spare parts of the RX-78 series, no parts were available to repare them. EZ8 is a repaired version of the RX-79[G] shiro amada used while fighting the apsaras II (as for the spelling, yea watever!). The unit was heavily damaged falling off that cliff. Another example is Karin's "GM Head" cuz her RX-79[G]'s head was knocked off after that parachute landing by the Acguy (ummm.... i think... still an ugly name though). It was replaced with a RGM-79's head.

I can't believe I still remember so much crap!!! LOL.

I thought Karin's "GM Head" was based on another MS not the RX-79[G]? I remember it being a brown or desert camo color not the blue and white of the RX-79[G]. I think it was the RGM-79(G) GM "Sniper" maybe?

Ah! I have yet to deal with such a problem (having mostly built armour and scale miniatures/figures). I think I'd add fake hydraulics that actually function. It would require brass or styrene tubes small enough but with one fitting inside of another. Then i'd harvest the spring from a clicky pen and litterally give it "hydraulic" reinforcements behind the knee. Coming up with a way to make it still transformable would be the challenge. I've known people who do model 4x4s who do this to give their vehicles and actual suspension. Or I suppose they could be removable pins that just keep the leg in a set position. Pose the gundam, put in the correct sized pin and it stays there. Just a crazy plan (I've got a lot of crazy plans).

I'm also a fan of the cobbled together EZ8 and the other mobile suits from the 08th team. I think the hardest part with making my own version of a "frankengundam" would be getting to all look right together and be properly proportioned. I'm going to stick with out of the box projects until I get more experience with these things. At most I'd combine parts from like suits. Like Gouf stuff with Zakus or something like that.

well when it comes to the RGM-79(G) the main team that was using those was the 7th ms team. if i seem like i know to much i am sorry but it is my favorite series out of all. i my self would go with that type of support system in my chop job but unfortunatly that would not help much as you see the feet just don't have the ground cover to support it. but i do like the suggestion and will probobly use it on a later suit thanks.

I think he meant the transformable lower legs from the Zeta. FAZZ in Gundam Sentinel was actually non-transformable fixed version of the fully armored ZZ Gundam.

Darn it you guys, all this talk about the EZ8 made me wanna do a diorama with the EZ8 sliding down that building with the back lifting forks sticking into the wall (remember that episode when he was fighting noris's gouf?) The idea had been imprinted into my head for the past two days... How fast does Amazon ship? cuz I need that EZ8 kit! forget the two RX-79[G] kits i have.

That sounds like a cool idea! Amazon.com can be quick IF it's in stock. Also try www.GundamStoreAndMore.com. I've also gotten stuff from www.HLJ.com pretty quick.

OK, since I'm still looking for a place to print white and yellow decals on clear background for me, I'll have to put off some of my other first choice builds for a later date.

My entry for this group build will be Bandai's WD-M01 Turn A Gundam 1/100 Non-Grade. See links #1 & # 2 below. From the series "Turn A Gundam" (#8704; Gundam) that takes place in the "Correct Century" timeline. See link #3 & #4 below. This and the other Gundams in the series were designed by Syd Mead. You've seen his work in "Blade Runner," "Aliens," "Tron" and other movies and books. See link #5 below.

I've not seen the series yet, but I like the kits because they deviate from the usual Gundam / Zaku designs. I'm also a Syd Mead fan. My plan is to build, putty seams, paint and weather the kit. I don't think I'll be doing any modifications or scratch building. Based on the story, the kit pretty much requires weathering. Smile [:)]

I plan to start sometime this week with photos of all the parts and test fitting.

Awesome! Just today I finished watching the last episode of Turn A Gundam. That show has so many unique designs in it with just enough of the traditional ones to tie it in with the whole Gundam feel.

They are completely different. And they were definitely not well recieved by most of the gundam fans out there. I thought the new designs were refreshing. It actually looks sinister rather than comical.

It sure does. Given that it was buried for 2000+ years in the side of a mountain. And it's nano-skin keeps the thing fairly rugged/dirty as it self repairs and sloughs off the old damaged parts like our skin does.

I can't wait to see it. After watching the series, I'd really like to get my hands on a Turn A and a SUMO, just because there's nothing like them in the rest of the Gundam shows. But i already have 5 mecha kits to build, so that'll be a while.

weeeellll okay this suite is turning to be a little more massive than i had originally anticipated so i am going to rename and rescale it.

MAZ-18 Triple Zeta Sentinel Version Custom Unit (MAZ=[mawz]=Mobile Armour Zeta) scale 1/330

The grandios plan is going to right now incororate a wepons platform which will incorporate the Dendrobium 1/550 and SEED's Meteor 1/550 but those are a little ways off i have to make the kit work right now.....speaking of which i found a part off of the Nataku, a gundam from endless waltz that covers the front of the legs and also is a foot joint gaurd, but can also act as a close range combat weapon that can litterally grabe, use as a shield, or just tear a battle ship apart little by little. i should have some pics posted by mon afternoon. as for the wepons platform that is going to be a few months off in the distance.

well enough about me lets hear the progress of some of the other kits.

Nathaniel: Was the series dubed to English or just subtitled? Where did you pick it up? I read somewhere that the Turn A series is supposed to tie all the other series together.

I actually have all the kits from Turn A Gundam - 2 - 1/100 kits and 6 - 1/144 kits. If I have the time I'll build one or two more of them for this GB. I got them at a fairly good price from a couple of places in the US.

My brother usually picks up the Perfect Grade kits for me when he's in Japan. I have all of those except the RX-78 GP01/Fb, the Strike Rouge, and the Sky Grasper + Aile for the regular Strike. Other rarer kits and a few PG kits I've goten on ebay. And of course I could not resist the Amazon sale! Big Smile [:D] I even piced up a couple of SD Gundams there. Not great pricing but free shipping and they are kinda cute. Smile [:)]

I'll be getting started with building my kit tomorrow afternoon. Then i'll be going out with the flight and getting smashed. Tuesday is an appointment with the optometrist early afternoon, and afterward is all free time for whatever I want to do. So, expect some in-progress pics of the Wing Zero Custom. Big Smile [:D] I think I'll call it the Wing Zero Daemon Custom

Inspiration comes from the dictionary's description of Daemon as follows:
QUOTE: They belong to the number of those angels that "kept not their first estate," "unclean
spirits," "fallen angels," the angels of the devil (Matt. 25:41; Rev. 12:7-9).
They are the "principalities and powers" against which we must "wrestle" (Eph.
6:12).

okay well turn a gundam has yet to even be licsensed in america so the dubbing is not yet. you have to either down load it from www.animesuki.com or buy it on ebay. from what i hear they are looking at licsensing it soon so hurry.

@A Mejias: It was subtitled. I downloaded it via bittorrent. Sunrise Inc. doesn't really have a problem with their shows being distributed on the net until it's licensed.
Then they care and most fan made subtitle groups respect that and remove their versions. The entire 2 season series was close to 11 gigabytes. Took a while to download.

As for progress on my kit, I'm about to putty it. I'll be using Bondo Spot N Glaze 1 part putty. I thin it with nail polish remover (the acetone kind) and brush it on as thinly as possible.
It's actually the same stuff as Model Master red putty (both Bondo & Testors are owned by the same parent company -- same stuff, different packaging, you get twice as much at the
hardware store rather than the hobby shop. After that, I'll be sanding it (hopefully for the last time) and getting ready to prime (my primer still hasn't arrived). If something goes wrong
with the primer, I'll likely be doing a lot more sanding. If all goes right with the primer it'll probably expose a few areas that need putty and sanding again. Painting is probably a few
weeks away.
