I've started a Spring GB for those who are interested.  We'll see if we can't make it alittle more lively.

Well I think the birth of your son is a valid excuse (Congratulations!). We will let you slide this once Wink [;)]

I would be interested in a spring semester build.

OK guys.  I feel crappy because I got no further than the cockpit... in the group build I had part in starting.  Sorry for the massive amount of time I was abscent.  You guys that posted work did an excellent job.  Congrats on being able to find the time to have fun with something less unsavory than most others.  Personally, the birth of my son really put me behind.  I'd like to start up a spring build, too.  What do you fellows think of that?

Thanks for participating.

Not well.  I've hardly done anything, but remember we have time after finals... so hopefully I can finish.

Actually I'm glad you asked. This is the start of a huge never ending diorama project that my father and I have been talking about starting every since I can remember. We have always wanted to have a room with a huge dogfight going on hanging from the cieling. This will be the first plane of the diorama. I decided to leave off the tanks as this one will be dogfighting some zero's and I read that they removed the bombracks, as well as sometimes the outermost gun on each wing  to lignten the planes up for intercepting/dogfighting.

Finals are approaching! AHHHH!

How is everyone doing?

I managed to finish my 1/72 KC-135 that I have been working on since March. I think that will be it until after finals.

Status report:

KLM 734 is practically finished.  Here's pics:

Only things left to do are the registration letters under the wing which I had forgotten about and shoot a clearcoat over everything.  Planning on using Future; read some good things about it and will give it a try.  Finish was Testors enamel applied with an airbrush.  Decals are Dutch Decal from Airline Hobby supplies.  L-1011 in background is a Modelcraft kit I did a few years ago.

Status update on the Aer Lingus 747:

Sorry for the poor photo quality on this one, I was in a hurry.  Anyway, it's coming along nicely.  Wings are still in paint, probably can knock that out this weekend if weather stays good.  The engines are nowhere near done, since I'm having to fill in the gap from the partially deployed reverser cowls.  A lot of little things about this kit bothered me, such as the overly-thick tail surfaces (probably twice as thick as the Revell kit) and complete lack of wing to fuselage fairing.  They just blend together in an amorphous blob.  Livery makes up for it though, I think.

KLM 744 is on hold until I can locate a better decal set.  I have the Draw KLM decals, but the cheatlines are not included.  I know my limits with masking tape, and I can't mask cheatlines parallel and straight simultaneously.  So that one will probably be a project for next spring if I can find the decals.

Guys, I resized the badge.  Original was a little big for use in the sig line, so here's a 70% version for the signature.

Status update:

The fuse and wing assy's on the KLM 734 are coming along nicely.  Fuse halves joined, cockpit attached, sanded all joint lines, and primed.  First coat of paint airbrushed yesterday.  The KLM decals (Dutch Decals from AHS) arrived in the mail Saturday; they look great.  This one is going together faster than I expected, considering I can only put in a couple hours per week.

I'm in my sixth year now, so I've had lots of practice.  All about proper time management!  It seems that there isn't a badge for this build, so may I propose this?

OOB...no, but whatever, I'd rather have you in than out.Smile [:)]  Good to have you around.  Enjoy the forum by the way.  19hrs is a lot, must be hard to get good grades and build models.

I know it's midterms and I'm behind the power curve on this one, but can I join in?  19 hr course load but I've still got time to tackle a Minicraft 737-400, Airfix 747-200, and Revell AG 747-400.  I'm doing non-box liveries (2 x KLM  and 1 x Aer Lingus), but no custom structure (unless I can find the engines to convert the -200 74 to a -100).  Is that close enough to OOB?  I should be able to at least knock out the 737 before finals...  -DH

Edit: all subjects above in 1/144th

That's the problem with all things that are interesting as subjects... turns out to be a math course every time.

Man I wish I could.  At the moment, I'm writing a computer code to solve for the separated flow over a NACA airfoil.  You'd think aerodynamics would actually be about cool stuff...but it's nothing but math and it's real ugly.  My next project due in two weeks is pretty cool though.  We gotta design a cruise missle to be launched from the internal storage of a F-22.  It's gotta go like 250 nautical miles and maintain a minimum speed of 175 knots.  I haven't even started on that one yet.  At least my Yak is one of those Eduard kits with only like 30 pieces.

Things could be worse. Suppose your errors were counted and published every day, like those of a baseball player. Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come, but when it does, be prepared to run the bases.

Well after letting it sit overnight the paint wasnt as bad as I thought...the decals however fought me the whole way, and only about 2/3 of them made it onto the plane without disintegrating. They also silvered pretty badly...(I know...I need future!  Sign - Oops [#oops] )

So here it is...all done.  Smile [:)]

The last pic is hanging with my AMT/ ERTL 1/72 B-52G for comparison.

My B-52 is just about finished. I painted and decaled it yesterday. (The decals were TERRIBLE). I thought I screwed up the paintjob, but after letting it sit overnight, it dosent look  as bad as I thought.

Today I need to add the landing gear doors, and paint some details. I will try and get some pics up tonight.

How's everyone holding up?  I cleaned off my workspace today, hoping to get back to work on my build.  Maybe tomorrow night I'll get something done...

Toother1321- A friend of mine just started her freshman year there as a business major.

Hey guys, I am a sophomore at the University of Delaware. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering taking 17 credits right now.

Last night I just started an amtech P-40F/L that I got cheap off of ebay. It should definately be done in time. I'll just need to get the right paints.

I build all of my models really late at night during the week. Some nights I get into a frenzy and don't get much sleep.

I would do a Smer 1/48 Mig 17 for this group build, but I am going to add the Stoli / Smirnoff decals from JBOT to it.
