ok I am in of course! I am building an AMT 1969 Chevelle and it is a 125th scale! I am just starting the engine and I need some advice, the directions call for a chevrolet orange engine, but I am building a pink car, so should I paint the engine pink or chrome it??

Oh and I made this

Score!! We're up to 3!  Maybe we'll pick up some more over the year.  I'll add you to the list.

Hmmm, good question.  Pink would go with the idea, but it might be too much.  The chrome would be a nice contrast but it's up to you.

I like the group badge. The graytones give it a classy look.  If TexGal likes it, we'll do with it.

Hiddensee Update-The ugly hull seam I've been fighting is surrendering, I think.

Wow, this is really picking up!! I'm rather pleased.  It can't hurt to mention it, can it?  She'd have a year to finish anything so it's do-able.

I like this badge even better than the one SmokingGuns made up in the aircraft forum article.  I think it needs the "powder puff" words in there somewhere.

PinkChevelle,  The original Chevrolet engines were a bright, dark orange, almost red.  The model engine should contrast somewhat with the rest of the engine well, so I would suggest not doing it in pink.  Model Master paint line has an aerosol can of what they call "Chrome" and it gives a pretty bright, shiney result.

You got me to remembering when I was about 10 or 11 and my older brother tore apart a 1947 Ford engine and rebuilt it.  I was his grease monkey assistant.

Bud...

Thanks for the well wishes, Tony.

Okay we'll use this badge.  I might save the other one in case we do another GB next year.

I'm working on of TO35 Ferguson tractor.  The fuel system is acting weird. Cleaned the line, settlement bulb, and replaced the cork gasket but it seems a metal plate inside the tank broke off and keeps shifting over the outlet for the line and stopping the flow.

Wow, ZVA, two maybes.  We might have a good sized group.

Nice plane, TexGal.  Is it wearing Indiana Air Guard markings??  Extra points bening the Hoosier I am.

Way to go Ladies! I will see if I cannot get my beautiful wife to join and contribute as she has built a model before - The Jetson's Spaceship. She had a pretty good time doing it. Bud remember the "no pants' belongs to the In My Stash GB.

Pinkchevelle, What I normally do in painting the engine is matching it to the color of the body. Just something I picked up from covering carshows for several years, But that's up to you. Build what you like. Remember, if you do not like the way it looks, you can strip it and start all over.

The dress is optional, but appropriate feminine undergarments are a mandatory requirement.

Yes, 181 Tactical Fighter Group, 113 Tactical Fighter Squadron, Terre Haute, Indiana.  I have the decals for the fuselage, but I am trying to figure out how to do that blasted lightening bolt on the wing tip.  In 1/72, that is going to awfully small.

Welcome aboard, Mrs. Lone!  I have that kit myself.  I love the demo teams.  I got to see the Blues in person at Dayton in July.

TexGal-What about cutting it out from piece of colored decal sheet? You could cut it out flat and then the decal would conform to the wing.  White decal is fairly easy to get.

I thought I would post a pic of the real beastie.

That sounds like a good idea.  I will have to look into it.  Thanks,

Well I just talked to me daughter and she is going to be join in this GB. Her name is Samantha and she will be 12 in Feb. Her and I have build model's in the past but this time she will be building and painting it all on her own.

I will be taking her to the LHS sometime next week so she can pick a model out for this GB.

Have a GREAT night all

My awesome wife jumped at the chance to join! She wants to build an AH-64 Apache. We havn't decided on scale yet,but it's narrowed down to either 1/35 or 1/32.

I think I am going to try to talk her into setting up her own screen name so that she will be totally on her own with this GB.Are you ladies going to post pics of your smiling faces? Just curious....

This was an outstanding idea Cassibill...... and you should be commended for it.Thumbs Up [tup]  And I strongly urge the FSM moderators to keep an eye on this topic, for a possible publication in the magazine, just to show people that this is a hobby that can be enjoyed by everyone. Not just 'the guys'.If it's published this could spur other women to decide to build instead of letting their husbands/boyfriends/dads have all the fun! It's just my $.02 though......
