I'm sure it is just fine to join in.

I won't be starting my builds until after the first of the year. We are going to be moving and I will FINALLY have my 'Man Cave'!!!! I am sooooooooooo loooking forward to that! I haven't had my very own room for modeling in 10 or 11 years.

Merry Christmas to all that are here!!

Just save the pic a few pages back. Then upload it on a site like photobucket.com and copy the image tag into your sig.

First. You have to upload your picture to a photo site. I use Photobucket. It's free.

Go to their site and set up an account and start uploading pictures! Big Smile [:D]

Go to the picture in photobucket. At the top of the picture you will see move / tag / edit /  share / delete. Click on the edit button. You will see a button at the top that says 'resize'. Click on that and choose the size you want. After doing this, go back to the picture. You will see, at the bottom, 4 different types of links. Click on the IMG link and paste it in the signature line in your profile. That should do it. If not, we'll try it again. Big Smile [:D]

Welcome aboard pisser and raptordriver Thumbs Up [tup]

Jester, that's one heck of a bird.  I'm jealous that the 1/72 has more detail than the 1/48.

I spent the last two days building an engine and modifying the port boom to take the new engine and corrected cowl.

Hopefully, I'll get a few pictures over the next week and post them up.

Knew you'd get it sooner or later pisser!

Thanks Gigatron! This little devil is definetely packed with detail. The Eduard PE set was extensive for it and the Aires pit, well, its an Aires pit ya know!!

Get some pics up of that engine that youve been slaving over, cant wait to see it!

Lookin' good so far, pisser.  Just think, in terms of the revell P-61, you're just about 1/1,000,000,000th of the way there - because no pieces ever fit together Laugh [(-D].

Really, the kit is a bargain because you get two toys for the price of one.  Not only do you get a model of a P-61, but you also get a puzzle.  I spend more time trying to figure out how the pieces are supposed to fit than actually gluing them together (and then filling all the huge gaps with styrene Banged Head [banghead])

Anyway, here is an update pic of most of the sub assemblies just hanging out together

Enjoy!

Looking pretty good, Fred.

I just got an email from LSM and my F-15 Reporter sets and other goodies should be shipping out at the end of next week. We are in the process of moving to a bigger house and I will be getting my own 'Man Cave'! Once we have completed the move and get everything put up then I will be getting the 'Cave' set up and can start getting serious about this and the SSGBII that I am involved in.

Did you happen to document the engine/cowl/boom modification? If so, could you post it? I'd like to see how you did it. The LSM sets come with everything needed to do it but, I have plans for one that doesn't need an LSM set.

Hey Randie,

I didn't photoducument the modifications, but they were pretty straight forward.

The one thing you'll need to make this all work is an AM corrected cowl.  The kit only has one cowl with the correct open flaps.  The other cowl is in several pieces (to display open).  The only problem is that the flaps are molded into the boom).

If you look at the port boom, you'll notice that it has the cowl flaps molded in (in the closed position).  What I did, using a JLC razor saw, was cut directly behind there to remove that section.  Then what I did was take the stock cowl and cut out the areas betwen the individual flaps and one access panel (if you look at the cowl, it's divided into 3 removeable panels).

Now the kit comes with a firewall for use on that boom.  After I built the AM engine, I glued it to that firewall.  The firewall will still sit correctly in the boom and allow the cowl to fit over the engine.  The kit also has an access panel cover for use on that side.  Since it's already the correct thickness, I'm using that one, instead of the panel I cut out.

It really is a fairly simple mod, but it makes a world of difference.  I'll try to take some more detailed shots of it tonight so you can see the post-mods boom.

ok, here are a few pics of the mods.

First, you can see the section of the port boom that I removed and the AM engine.

Here is the AM engine/firewall sitting in the boom.

And the modified kit cowl and kit panel cover and the AM cowling

Hope that helps a little.

Okee dokee guys! I'm gonna be off of here for a few days. Making the move to a bigger house with my own personal 'Man Cave'!!!

Cox won't be out until the 2nd to hook up the cable. So, it won't be then until I get back on here. But!! That's also when I'm hoping to start building again!!!

Y'all take care and I'll be back as soon as I'm able!

Unless you are just absolutely wanting to use aftermarket decals. I've got two of the newer versions of that kit. I'd be more than happy to send you a set. I ain't gonna use them.

Let me know and I'll get 'em headed your way as soon as I can.
