Exactly my point of view too Russ. 

A built model is just a depiction of a "moment in time", which basically means you can't know exactly how it looked from one day to the next.

I haven't gotten the whole 'chipping' thing down either and am hesitant to try it. Still I suppose if you wanted to you could do a little on the skirts and if you don't like it cover it up with dust or mud

I think the JT is indicative of my style. I like it used, but not abused. I admire others that beat the snot out of their armor builds, but that is their style. The good thing about us all, is that we're individuals, therefore we model in our own unique style. No two are exactly alike.

Yes, I could and still might chip it. Perhaps a little practice on my Jagdpanzer mule before I take a chance on the JT. It took me how many years just to put washes on my builds?

This gives me an idea to start a thread on chipping.

Thanks too for the pointer. I used to be a drybrusher and not a washer. I just need to trust myself and let go. Like I said earlier, I need to record some notes on my favorite methods of weathering. I was looking for that article Part 2 of your hetzer and I didn't get it. My subscription ran out. Erghhh.

I finished this about two years ago after an extensive correction/rebuild of this AMT Space 1999 Eagle.

Tigerman -- I love the Jagtiger, and your model looks pretty good. What I would suggest is to try to do a light drybrushing of light tan over it. The finish is really subdued--could that be what you're seeing when you say that you think that you "overdid" the one wash"--but a DB'ing of tan would make the details pop and really provide some depth to it.

Go easy on it, and you'll see a big change in the impact of the model's finish.

Thanks JDice! One of these days I will go all out. I was really happy with the camo and have really shied away from drybrushing most of the hull anymore, so I decided to attack it with different washes. I might have put one too many burnt sienna washes on it. It came out a little more tannish then it looked. I wanted to keep a portion of the DY. Oh well.

What I need to do is take notes when I spot an effect I like, such as chipping. Then I could refer to it and not go "hmmm, how should I do that?"

I think we all have a style. We may try to incorporate other's work, but in the end, it still looks like something all our own.

Thanks everyone for the generous feedback. I'm quite happy overall and hopefully learned something from this build. I tried out a few washes that I think worked well in the schemes of things.

Anthony, thanks kindly man. I guess I'm a bit of a cheerleader. i do try to encourage and help if possible. I haven't shared anything in so long I felt almost embarrassed. So glad to move on from this build though.

Great build Tiger, looks just right. The wash is just right. I do like a little bit of chipping, depending on the vehicle. I think none at all works with this.

Nice work, I really like it. I don't think you over did the wash, and also I don't think you need chips. (not my style either but I'm starting to get into it.)
