Well, can't say I'm blown away, but they've got to be running out of ideas. I've been waiting for a true 1943 T-34. not sure that's what I was looking for.

I hear you Tigerman... there are so many other things they could do. All manner of ARVs that have not been covered in plastic. I have the Tiger Models bergpanther conversion but i've been dying for Dragon to do one in plastic. There are still oodles of Sherman variants and piles and piles of Allied trucks and such that could be done...

It's a good time to be a modeler but some of these subjects are getting tiresome i'll agree... The Sexton is a great one though!

Wondering, might it be possible, Trumpeter will offer the 88cm Flak 41 on chassis Selbstfahrlafette IVc  ???

Question: When did the StuG III G Late begin production? That's kind f what I was looking for. I know they have the older Imperial kit #9014, but if zim is called for then perhaps I want a pre-zimmed kit.

Ok, this is where things get tricky because we are using a "modeler" designation instead of an actual designation...you have to define what set of features you mean by "late" as the StuG III G production continued to receive modifications to the end of '44 and appear unevenly in production into '45 as a result.

Generally speaking, the Imperial #9014 represents a "final" configuration and is still the only DML kit out there that has the remote roof-top MG mount and revised roof hatches, those were introduced in April-May '44 and onward. It also features IIRC the saukopf mantlet with the coaxial MG port which was introduced in Oct '44 and the heavy duty tow-bar introduced in Dec '44and  therefore post-zim timeframe.

hmmmm i cant decide which one i'd rather have: the T-34 or the long barreled Stug. III

I see. The most obvious (to my eyes) was the remote machine-gun on the roof. I figured it may have come post-zimmerit, but wasn't sure. So Dragon's kit is a Late-Late version?

DML is smart to label it's new kit (if that's the one you're talking about) with features relevant to a Dec '43 production set of changes as those are the ones that are most prominent in the form of the changed schurzen (triangular teeth mounts and mono-rail) and casemate armor and roof layouts...so continuing on the theme of "modeler speak" it would place it in the window of "Late-Early" (have to remember the StuG III G had a remarkably long production run from Nov '42-April '45) as the next batch of features came in the April-May '44 period would make it a "Late-Mid" and the "Late-Final" set of features (as in the Imperial kit) appear in the Oct-Dec '44 period. The intro of StuG features has almost as complex a history as those added for Tigers or Panthers!

It'll be interesting to see where Dragon goes with the G after this guy. Pre-zimmed or ???

I have given up waiting for DML's new releases. I have been waiting for their 251 Ausf A for nearly 3 years now. So i won't be holding my breath.

And the Jumbo Sherman.... I went ahead and got the Tasca one but i'd really like to see Dragon do one. They threw the box art out there to steal some of Tasca's thunder and have yet to make good... :(

If they follow their usual pattern, the pre-zim usually follows 6-12 months after the non-zim kit. Then the non-zim kit can usually be had for very good sale prices depending.

They are also redoing the short-barrel StuGs starting with the E and slowly redoing all the old Imperial kits for that matter in the Pz III line...so patience will see Smart Kits of all of them eventually I imagine.

I do believe that is part of Dragon's marketing strategy: to announce a release so you will buy or consider theirs over the competitors

I'd like to see Dragon tackle a M4 "Calliope" Sherman with the MLRS launchers on the turret. Only Revell and Italeri ever tackled that subject in 1/35 scale.

The minute you finish building one, they will announce a new mold. Happened to me with the Marder III H.

I always love the new stuff anyone does.  As far as Dragons planned releases, I can wait.  I've got plenty, over 2,000 to do, so no hurry.  I as well got the Tasca Jumbo, and built it a while ago.  I'm sure the Dragon one will be neat, but I can give my wallet a rest on that purchase.  And the Ostwind will be nice.  I heard that there were research issues also.  I'm sure that they are aware of the complaints they would get if it isn't just right.  And if they had anything wrong some would complain that they rushed it.   Maybe they bring some of this on themselves, but, Wow, I'm always happy with everything they do.  So I built the Italeri Ostwind, just in case.  I also just finished the Dragon Neubaufahrzeug, the 3 to 5 version.  Nice easy build.  Certainly looks like one to me.  Haven't seen the Amusing hobby one locally yet, and don't feel the need to order one... yet.

So it's good.  Looking forward the to the WaffenTraeger also.  I love those SPs.  But I'm easy.  Shucky darns, I even got the Zvezda 251 ausf B together,  just to have one before the Dragon A comes out.

Well they are different. Yours is a 128mm version with extra roadwheels and Dragon's is an 88mm version.

Afraid i have to agree with you. Same goes for the 251/9 Ausf C. Guess i will have to do some conversions. I have been waiting for the Ostwind as well, but hasn't it been over 2 years. But nice to see that its not been forgotten.
