Academy 1/35 M1 Abrams
Posted by modelcrazy on Thursday, August 7, 2014 10:57 PM
Hello all, I just posted a 1/48 Grumman Duck in the airplane section, now I'm invading the armor theater. Well for now I'll start with my Abrams. I recently returned to modeling after a few year hiatus, now with a vengeance hear we go. An Academy Leopard 2 and 1/35 Italia JS-2 are coming soon.

That's a lot nicer than mine. Nice tarp work! And welcome to the forums. Bob

Overall I like it. Is this a 1st Gulf War Abrams? I might suggest some stain and/or varnish on the bare wood of the stand to dress that up a little bit.

Well done. Tarps look good, and logically placed.

Yes it is a 1st Gulf war Abrams. I agree about the base. It may be difficult to add some stain at this point though.
Thank you everyone for the kind feedback. I am very proud of it.

Yes, I gotta agree about the tarps... very well done on those! No worries about the base here. That is something to apply to your next project. I like to look on each build as a learning experience for the next one.

Thank you,

The tarps were very easy. Tissue paper, watered down white glue, let dry, paint, add pastel chalk to taste.

Looks good to me! Love the tarps too plus the storage.

Modelcrazy, the Abrams turn out great!

And thanks for the tip on the tarps! Going to give it a try.

Academy really needs to provide lenses don't they? Sorry, maybe I should've made some instead of griping on fsm. :) Bob
