Raualduke

Great work and nice pics. Is that the new camera?

Yep.  While I will be doing most of my model photography with the old camera, that was a special test to verify the use of the new camera with my Tamron wide zoom lens, and as you can see, they play together nicely. The lens was on autofocus. I consider a closeup like that a real test of autofocus.  It was also a test of the built-in flash.

Those look really nice Don. I haven't seen too many Napoleonic cannon kits. I saw that Model shipways has naval mortars that I wouldn't mind building though.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Gun photos

Was looking at some of my models and realized I had never photographed two of my gun models.  So I shot them yesterday and thought I'd post them today.

First is the Lindberg 1:16 kit of a Union Napolean smoothbore plus limber.  I modified the limber when a friend, a civil war buff said people did not ride on the latter- it was only used to transport ammunition, and generally had a copper covered top. So I covered the top with copper flashing.

The second shot is of a scratchbuilt 24 pdr naval cannon.  The plans were in an old wood working magazine, and after finishing the barrel quite awhile ago I decided to finish it but had lost the article.  But I had a book on a British SoL, which showed good drawings of carriages.  The barrel is turned from wood.
